Van55 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Bloody hell. I didn't check the box code. Got this box from Cologne in late 2006 or early 2007 as I recall. I decided last evening that it was time to try another one of these to gauge how they are doing. I smoked my first shortly after they were released, and I thought it showed great promise for a very young cigar. The one I smoked last night produced copious volumes of smoke through a spot-on draw. The typical PL caramel flavor abounded, and was lip-smackingly wonderful. Medium to full body on this. Perfect construction. I deem them ready to smoke now. Solid 5 (out of 6) smoke rings. That HSA was able to recreate the blend of this discontinued marca (2002) with such accuracy is amazing to me.

I said the same thing when they came out and people scoffed and said they didn't like them. Of the ones I've tried so far, I was amazed at how close they were to the 2002s I had!
kjellfrick Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I've never smoked any of the original release, but I agree that these are beginning to smoke well now! Thanks for the review and for reminding me!
shrink Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Sheer coincidence, but I smoked one this past Sunday afternoon. Only my second sample in two years. Very pleasing cigar; draw was perfect (I've read complaints about plugs), and the flavors were excellent. Nice toasted tobacco core with lightly sweetened toffee or caramel notes, and a tangy finish. I think I'll leave these alone for at least another year or two. I have a feeling that one day they're going to be like candy canes.

habanohal Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I have smoked through 1 bax and have 2 set aside. Persionally I think they are amazeing. Couldnt understand how they sat on shelves for so long, when everyone was after anything under PL. Just like they PCs. All you ever heard is " when will thesae be back" and people were paying top dollar for 2002. Now they are readilyt available and you dont hear anything about them. Between the Lonsdales and the Robustos, I am set on this Marca

Between the Lonsdales and the Robustos, I am set on this Marca I never tried the RE of PL Lonsdales, only the regular production years ago - it was difficult to find at the time (found a box in Geneva in 2002) and as I remember the smokes were great. The German RE sounds delicious, wow! Thank you for the review - have to start looking for some.
Ken Gargett Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Thanks for the review Van! I said the same thing when they came out and people scoffed and said they didn't like them. audio1der Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 this is great news. I've not yet been able to sample the few I have due to plugs. Looking forward to the day they open up and let me burn them
