gerem Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I really like the robusto size also, my favorite are : - PSD4, I got a nice box from FEB08 in the humi (that's my anytime I want to smoke cigar = never disapointed) - HDM Epicure #2, I love to smoke that cigar during summer with a cold beer. - Cohiba Robusto, when I want to change or for special occasion.
jeromeroselli Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I'm kind of the opposite - I find myself caring less and less for the format, and rarely but them. What other reason is there to smoke except for enjoyment? Amen!
Alberto_Magnus Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I am not a huge fan of the Robust format, yet when we come to that my top list is: 1. RASS: rich and complex cigar, it is at its best when aged but can also deliver excellent smokes when young 2. Bolivar RC: a true Bolivar in character, intense and earthy 3. Juan Lopez no.2: a flowery, charming smoke, rich in perfumes and aromas as for Hermosos no.4, RyJ Exh. no.4 is a pretty honest chap, but want to smoke more to give a more definite answer.
whistlebritches Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Again I'm not a big fan of ring guages over 46.That being said the only way I can enjoy what I believe to be one of the finest current production cigars made in Cuba is in the Robusto format.....................the RyJ Short Churchill. Kudos to the Juan Lopez#2 also. The VR Famosa can be pretty tasty with just a couple years on it My CoRos are from May 06...................the 2 I've tried have failed to please. We'll see what time will do. Ron
Lanthor Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Seems to be a lot of praise for the R&J SC lately, Prez, Ken, Smithy...how about a review??
josie67 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 1. 2007 PL Robusto Regional Release is the BEST robusto in current production ATM. 1a While techically not a robusto, (a little shorter), i LOVE the Paragas EL 2008 Serie D No. 5 2. Bolivar Royal Corona 3. RASS
jamesward Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 I've learned that you just can't have too many Partagas D4's. You can smoke 'em young, and they're sweet, spicy and peppery. You can age 'em a year or two, and they just smooth out: an iron fist in a velvet glove. Or you can forget 'em for five or ten years, and wake up to one of the greatest robustos on the planet. I hear that. I just got delivery of a 25 box of the '07. Very sweet.
Headbanger Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Not sure I have them ranked in order but is close, depends on my mood. Bolivar RC JL #2 RyJ Short Churchills VR Famosos CoRo RASS too much leather for me and PSD4 can be too strong for my liking.
bassman Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I usually like smaller gauge cigars, so don't smoke a lot of Robustos. I do like those PL Robustos, though, and also am enjoying early 06 RASS. Never cared for the D4 at all- well, a couple 94s, but that's a different story.
brian1 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Had a Jan 03 Cohiba Reserva Seleccion Robusto last night and it was out of this world good. Best Cohiba or Robusto I have ever had the pleasure to smoke.
