Hi Guys,

This Topic is directed to everyone in this forum but might be applicable to the ones that live in Sydney or surroundings. I have few friends that are cigar lovers and collectors also have noticed that we have some Sydney-siders on this forum. So I really think it will be great if we can organise a Cigar night on a monthly basis at a bar or even if we book a venue. I am sure we can also perhaps work with Czar, Rob & Smithy, to bring an even better epxerience to some events.

Anyways these are just ideas I am throwing up in the aiout there and see if we have people who are intersted. On the night we can perhaps orgsanise the following:

1 - Beverage packages

2 - Cigar Tasting

3 - Cigar Trading

4 - Cigar discussions

Perhaps with some help from Rob and Smithy we might be even to get rollers to some events. (I have not discussed anything with them that's just me talking.)

Let me know if you think this is realistic or we should make it quarterly or anything else you guys can think of.

Cheers,

Elie.

Elie, great initiative. Of the casual cigar events I and others have organised, we usually find a cigar friendly venue, set a time and date and send the invites out to our respective networks. Previously we simply brought our own smokes (and some to trade) and bought drinks from the bar.

I think there is a demand for this type of event as retailers in Sydney who do have events only do them 1-3 times per year and many of us aren't up for forking out big $$ for 2 cigars plus a meal etc. In these economic times it is probably better to keep it casual. Buy the drinks you want to drink and bring the cigars you want to smoke/trade.

Rob, Lisa and Smithy came down to Sydney about 3 years ago and held a great night out for Sydney clients. We are still recovering! :king:

Thanks Sam. If you want to add one to the list, I had a cigar with a mate on the Glenmore rooftop down in the rocks a few weeks back. Not really in the same league aesthetically as places like Zeta Bar, but a nice view to make up for it. The only real problem is if you want anything better than house spirits/cheap beer you have to go to the main bar two floors down.

I totally agree with most of your comments. We can go to amoroma and book their upstairs where we can smoke and it's private. I know the owners and we can get some good deals. We can bring our cigars and trade on the night.

Also I belive Sam you are writtibg for spanton media they are in the same building as our office and perhaps they can recommend a venue.

Funny you should mention that - I walked past that place last Saturday night and was thinking to myself that it would be a top venue.

I'd love to get involved in something like this. I'm considering going down to Melbourne for the Alexanders Cigar night on the 26th - but it would be my first cigar event. Has anyone ever been to their dinners before? A good experience?

How about a cigar night on the State of Origin Night played in Melbourne. Surely we can find a locale in Sydney where we could watch the mighty Maroons smash the feeble New South Welsh Men :)

Smithy and I will travel down :clown2:

To see a couple of banana-benders cry at the sight of their team getting thrashed is always fun to watch! :P

This year is the blues year Rob. Great idea come down and if the blues win the maroons we will shout free drinks all night but if we win its' your shout!
