Jimmy2 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Great cigars these were gifted to me and they have been excellant. These cigars have the R&J classic flavor they have been just excellant and i can never ask anything more of them.
jwm8592 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Jimmy, Those look beautiful. What are the box codes on them?
anacostiakat Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 AGU Feb 08 They must continue to improve then. The first ones I got '06 I think were not good at all. Mild and very loose draws. The next batch (my wife likes them) from '07 was much better. Especially after I let them rest for a while. All of these were tubos.
asmith Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 The R&J Short Churhill are just getting better and better with each new batch that comes through. When they started they were under developed and lacking that complexity that we associate with R&J Churchills. Now that are a fantastic cigar that can stand on its own.

My wife loves them. I have quite a few left from the '07 box. I could see the progression and again am glad to hear that.
jwm8592 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I actually have some from ABR 06 & ENE 07, and while the 06's are on the mild side (haven't smoked any of the JAN 07's yet) the complexity isn't grand but I felt like it had some different flavors/tastes throughout the smoke of it. I just assumed it was meant to be a mild smoke, not an ass-kicker. However I do remember smoking one of my first ones and it seemed to have a little punch to it, due to when I went to stand up from the chair I was a little off of center. Hell who knows maybe that says I'm a light weight smoker Geez, now I'll have to buy a newer/updated version of these.
Jimmy2 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 The original release were not great at all very mild with little complexity. But the late 07 to present date most have been all med to full in strength with complexity.Just excellant with as little as a month nap time..
jwm8592 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 When was the original release of these? So even my Jan 07's would probably be on the very mild side? Oh well just make it a morning smoke I guess.
