Ken Gargett Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 one of my mates who deals with a number of wineries invited quite a few of us down for a tasting, some time at the tennis and then he and i and a few others had a great lunch the next day (one bloke brought a 1970 taylors vintage port which the restaurant decanted then knocked over. to their credit, they offered us a replacement o our choice from the list. problem was that nothing equated. everything was a lesser wine, except for a quinta nacional 1980 which is extremely rare and a great wine, no doubt better than ours and at almost $1300 per bottle it would want to be. the bloke felt that as they had knocked his over, he'd have that. restaurant didn't argue but i suspect not happy). anyway, my mate set me up wonderfully. long time since i've been so embarassed. i always make certain to turn my phone off for any tastings or sports or whatever. was certain i had for the tennis. nadal v simon in the 1/4 final. we all pile in, great seats. my mate nowhere to be seen. simon serves first and nadal breaks. nadal lines up to serve. crowd so silent you could hear a buterfly fart. off goes my phone. as loud as you can imagine. nadal stops. and do you think i can find it. it continues to ring. crowd yelling, nadal waiting, i am desparately seaching for it. it continues. i start throwing things out of my bag. the open bottle of water i was drinkiing goes one way, soaking neighbours, hat goes another, notebooks and tasting notes yet a different direction. still i cannot find it. eventually it rings out. then i find it. (i was delighted when the phone of the bloke in front went off later and did much pointing at him.) it was mortifying. later, as i walked out, i said to my mate thank god he wasn't there to see my embarassment. he just starts pissing himself and confesses to setting it all up and making the call from the bck of the stadium. apparently a game he regularly plays at sporting functions. i will never go anywhere else with that phone on again - or allow anyone else access ever again.
Colt45 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 OK, what's going on here? This is the kind of tale which, after exposed by Ayala, in the past you'd have vehemently denied and then ranted on questioning his legitimacy of birth. And now, here you are, airing it out yourself.... Something just ain't right. Great story

Great story colt, that should surely affirm that if there was any truth to any of ayala's fairy tales, i would happily submit and confess all. i have no problem doing that with the truth.
rckymtn22 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 LOL, I feel for you. At least Nadal didn't lose because of that.
Warren Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I wouldn't do that to a mate No of course you wouldn't
