Shelby07 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Well, Wednesday was a bust and last night was the auto show, but Pauline and I are going to try to get to the Celtic tonight. I'm looking forward to meeting Wilkey and some of the locals on the site. I normally try to stay out of the city. Can anyone tell me about parking?
physiognomy Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Thanks for posting up the pictures Dave... I noticed you managed to stay behind the camera. We will have to remedy that next time I'm pretty sure I can speak for all & say that last night was a blast... Huge thanks to Dave for the invite & generously hosting the evening! The conversation, friendship, cigars, rum, & scotch were all top notch! I hope Wilkey is up for doing it all again tonight -edit- Mark, there are parking lots right on 18th west of the Celtic & also some closer to 18th & Wazee... Should also be parking on the street, but it's 2hr until 10pm.
Moglman Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I am sorry that I missed last night guys. Couldn't be avoided. I can tell it was a great time. I will see all who can show tonight at the Celtic. I expect to pick Wilkey up somewhere between 6 and 6:30 at his hotel and scoot over. I'll try to remember a camera as well. See you this evening.
sepp Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Thanks for the pics Dave! It was a great evening and I enjoyed meeting you and Wilke. Good conversation, great cigars paired with lip smacking libations, what else can you ask for in life. Thanks for posting up the pictures Dave... I noticed you managed to stay behind the camera. We will have to remedy that next time I do remember snapping Dave's pic, hmmmm editorial license I suppose
toasterhead Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 Hey Glenn, The one you snapped of me came out awfully blurry. I think I looked better in the great clown cigar review... http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...splendidos+2001 Dave
Shelby07 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Looks like I won't be able to make it for dinner tonight. I'll try to make it a little later this evening depending on how things turn out.

Moglman Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Thank you all who were there for the great time!! We had a memorable 4 days with Wilkey in town and I am very happy to get to know him. I thank Wilkey and all the local guys for making this a very good week of camaraderie and some great cigars Wilkey's last night in Denver Food and cigars LtoR: Jamie (jcarlton), Peter (physiognomy), Doug (colimo) Stefan (b0rderman), Ray (spect), Zach (zmancbr) Wilkey (Ginseng), Mark (mojo65) Dave (toasterhead), Jamie (jcarlton)
jcarlton Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Great time last night, it was great to meet Wilkey and Dave in addition to getting to see Stefan and the other FRH folks.
Ginseng Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 What a bloody fantastic time! The Denver boys are a truly amazing bunch. Witty, bawdy, intelligent, personable, humble, and generous to a one. I arrived completely sans cigars, intending to buy a few at the local joints (I travel ultra-light, hate any kind of fuss at security) and ended up coming home with some amazing cigars AND an Otter Travel Humi. Good gosh! Many, many thanks to Scott for ferrying me around during my visit. Without a doubt, his reputation as the guru of the Denver conclave is well deserved. The ersatz Partagas Salomones was quite similar to other Mexican/Dominican counterfeits I've collected right down to the never-dying, greasy wrapper. And what can I say about the Cohiba Barber-mid. Glenn's got a mission when he goes on vacation though. We've requested specimens of the infamous "Cohibo" and the even more perverse "Vainilla" flavoured Cohibas in glass top case. The conference was grueling. Sessions from 8:20-6:00 every day for three straight days and I wouldn't have been able to maintain my sanity without the company of these truly fine gentlemen. Thank you all for your amazing hospitality! You have open invitations should you ever find yourself in the Baltimore, DC, Philly, or NYC regions. It'd be an honor to show you a little East Coast hospitality. It was truly a pleasure, mates! Cheers! Wilkey
FlyFishingDude Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Nice friggin' pics!. That barbershop pole wrapped Cohiba gotta be a classic.......
Ginseng Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 You know what just occurred to me looking at those photos? Stefan and I were the only two guys who primarily kept our cigars between our teeth. Now are we just weird or what? Wilkey
