KB24 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Anyone have any information regarding AVO's 2009 LE? Just thought I would throw it out there. -Patrick
anacostiakat Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I havent heard anything yet. I'll have to ask tomorrow if I can get into the shop to enjoy a cigar. . .
KB24 Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 AVO LE 2009 - The Companero! From CigarCyclopedia: It didn’t take long for more information about the new Avo “Companeros,” the 2009 limited-edition cigar set to debut in the next few weeks. Edward Simon, the Avo brand manager for Davidoff U.S.A., noted that “I can’t unveil too much yet. Just that it is going to be a Toro shape cigar, 6 inches by 50 [ring gauge] with five different filler tobaccos [that] all underwent several special fermentations. “It is going to be a stronger, very complex cigar, just in the tradition of past-year limited editions from Avo.” The 2009 Avo L.E. will mark Avo Uvezian’s 83rd birthday and will be the ninth limited-edition cigar in the Avo line. A major launch program is planned, along with the now-annual Avo limited-edition tour across the United States. The first Avo limited-edition, the Avo 75 from 2001, was so well received that it was included in the regular production line as the Avo Signature Series, introduced in late 2001. Offered exclusively in boxes of 10 since its introduction, the brand recently changed to boxes of 20 for all sizes. Simon explained that “The change in packaging for the AVO Signature Line was a market demand that we decided to follow. Since January 1st, 2009 the AVO Signature is shipped in boxes of 20 cigars.” ~ Rich Perelman
KB24 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Just received an email letting me know that the Companero will come in boxes of 10 and is 6 x 54. The box will cost around $160. 80,000 were produced for the US and European markets. -Patrick
Ginseng Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Jeez that's pricey. The LE05 and LE07 were quite good but the LE08 were pretty weird cigars. I don't recall any previous issues being this expensive. I guess you can charge more if you package fewer. Seems like they're betting on people parting with their cash on a chunk basis as opposed to a per-stick basis. I've never smoked an AVO that I'd consider close to being worth $16. I guess I'm off the AVO LE train at this stop. Wilkey
strayvector Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I found the LE05 very yummy, the Avo 80th was also very good, but after that, all the rest just hasn't done it for me. Rather spend the $16 on a Siglo VI.
KB24 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Kind of starting to agree. I have the 07's, 08's, and 787's but for $160 I could get a box of 25 RASS. I think I might just stick to the Classic #2 and Classic #2 Maduro. Those are $115/box. -P
rx2010 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I was disappointed enough with the 22's that I probably won't bother to shell out serious coin for their cigars anymore not that I wouldn't try one if given one
