Ken Gargett Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 found this in an article on bruce re the concert pre inauguration. Barack Obama came to see him play live and confessed to his wife that he was only running for president because he couldn't be Bruce Springsteen.
shrink Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 No, you misread the article. It said that Obama ran for President because it was the only way he could ban Bruce Springsteen.
Trevor2118 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 No, you misread the article. It said that Obama ran for President because it was the only way he could ban Bruce Springsteen. If I'd known that, I would have come over and voted for him myself......
Ken Gargett Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 be nice or i'll post the entire, very long article about bruce.
Trevor2118 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 be nice or i'll post the entire, very long article about bruce. ......oh no....not that.....I'll be good.......I must have had a blackout
Punch Joe Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Imagine this picture. Obama listening to Dancing in the dark in the White House and smoking cigarettes hidden and next morning signing the next antismoking ban. Nothing extremely odd for some one with so prehistoric likings.

El Presidente Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Springsteen threads should be banned along with Political threads
Ken Gargett Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Springsteen threads should be banned along with Political threads in this new age of hope, one must stand up for what one believes in. it is hardly bruce's fault if you are a heathen, deaf-to-genius, hack who is yet to hear the calling.
Colt45 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 it is hardly bruce's fault if you are a heathen, deaf-to-genius, hack who is yet to hear the calling. how many times in one song can one sing "workin' on a dream"?!?

Ken Gargett Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 just trying to protect my ears from the aural assault that is springsteen.......... the man is the shakespeare of our generation...
Colt45 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 the man is the shakespeare of our generation... Sorry old timer (you are fifty now), perhaps your generation - I've still a few years to go.
Ken Gargett Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Sorry old timer (you are fifty now), perhaps your generation - I've still a few years to go. rob told me you were mid 60's - i was thinking that the platters and their ilk were your thing. and remember, bruce speaks for every generation.
Colt45 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 rob told me you were mid 60's - i was thinking that the platters and their ilk were your thing. What is age anyway? I'd like to think I'm as a 1945 Mouton - ageless. And while the Platters may be good, I'll go farther back and listen to Reinhardt and Grappelli, Ellington et al. You can have the boss (with silvio on guitar), and I'll take The Duke.
shrink Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I always liked "Born to Run". I thought it was "Born too young", as in premature, an abortion, etc.
