El Presidente Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 It was Christmas Eve and all of the Czar team came together on the deck to have a cigar, a glass of Moet and do the traditional exchange of Christmas gifts. Simon (Minismithy) was the first with his gift......given that he forgot to get me one last year (trird to rectify it the following day). I only reminded him 364 times during the year. Simon has come along nicely in 08. There are few better cigar assessors out there. He even contemplated doing the MOvember fundraising. In the end he felt daunted by Smithy who said to Simon he would give him a headstart until November 29th .......Simon could see a losing bet. The girls shave more often. Smithy, Lise and Diana purchased me a magnificent selection of wines.....which I have now drunk but completely enjoyed. The Czar House penchant for wine had me thinking in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Is red wine in the quantities we drink it healthy? Shoud perhaps I not try and lead my team by example in 2009? We all know Lisa's favourite pet is a Goose called "Grey". Diana always planned to name her next child "Sauvignon", Smithy likes to lead the conga line with a Pina Colada in one hand and a Shirley Temple in the other (actually...he makes people in the line nervous when he is behind them). As role models for Simon there could be worse...I just can't think of them at this time So I informed the team on Christmas Eve that we will be a new ship come 5th of January. Gone are the wine soaked afternoons of debauchery and misadventure. We will get healthier in 2009 and we would start with the gift now being opened in front of them.....a Daiquiri maker....a commercial blender I pumped out a few 10am Mango Daiquiri's for Smithy and myself earler this week before I headed away. Rum was made for Daiquiri's!!!! So the assistance we could use is your favourite Daiquiri and Margarita recipies? Trust me...we plan to try them all Bring on 2009!!!!!
cadillacdoc Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 So the assistance we could use is your favourite Daiquiri and Margarita recipies? Trust me...we plan to try them all Bring on 2009!!!!! My take on the "Papa Doble", make your standard frozen lime daiquiri and float a shot of homemade Ruby Red Grapefruit Cello on top (made with Everclear 190 proof grain). It comes out at 95 proof, incredible flavors, a bottle is in the process of being dispatched for your evaluation. Enjoy! ;>)
Vetteman Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Don't know any daiquiri recipes, but I like the new direction! Carry on!
Colt45 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I'm a fan of the combination of pineapple / orange, and really like mango as well. I'd just like to thank you and the Czar Crew for your willingness to take on even more R&D for us.............
Tampa1257 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Invest in a good Ice Maker, your crew is going to need it!
bassman Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Fill blender with ice, then fill 1/3 to 1/2 with good dark rum. Add a pint of strawberries, then fill remainder with vanilla bean ice cream. Blend away. Drink with straw or spoon!
rckymtn22 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I think we need a contest to see how long this fad is going to last. 2 weeks is my guess then back to wine and/or rum!
sfordham Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Here is my margarita recipe that I make a pitcher and served over crushed ice in a highball glass. 1 cup Sweet Sour Mix 1 cup Margarita Mix 1 cup Suaza Gold Tequila 1/2 cup Grand Marnier Tasty straight up margarita served on ice. I prefer the 1/2 and 1/2 of sweet and sour and margarita mix over straight margarita mix; and use Grand Marnier to replace triple sec.
Habanos2000 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 So the assistance we could use is your favourite Daiquiri and Margarita recipies? Trust me...we plan to try them all Bring on 2009!!!!! Rob, I appreciate how you lead by example. You're my hero! Below is my favorite Margarita blend, borrowed (stolen) from Frontera Grill restaurant in Chicago. It's more on the expensive side, but well worth it. Preferably served in 6 oz martini glasses. This will make 4 generous drinks designed not to be served on the rocks or frozen. WARNING: like a good margarita should be, these are STRONG! 1 cup silver or reposado 100% blue agave tequila. Cuervo Tradicional, Tres Generaciones or Herradura are some of my faves. 1/2 cup Cointreau 1/3 cup fresh lime juice, plus some for the rims of the glasses 1/3 cup kosher salt for coating the rims of the glasses 3 cups ice cubes Combine the tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Taste and add more lime or sugar if necessary. Keep in mind it will taste tangier once shaken. Moisten the rims of the martini glasses with the squeezed limes or lime juice and dip the rim of each glass in the salt to coat evenly. Pour half the margarita mixture into a cocktail shaker, add half of the ice cubes and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into two of the prepared glasses. Repeat with the rest of the remaining mixture. Relax and enjoy!
PDC1 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Aaaahhhh, my 2nd favourite summer subject!!!! Half the fun of making margarita's and daiquiri's is, experimentation. There is nothing better than having some good pisspots friends over and going balistic with the blender. I have several mutations of The Papa Doble (my fav). Here's something i tried recently which went down an absolute treat with the ladies, p'raps Lisa and the Czar ladies might enjoy it too. It was based on the fact that, all women love strawberries and, champagne. 1 measure of Bacardi 1 measure of Vodka 1 measure of Cointeau 5 halfed and hulled strawberries (more or less according to taste) 6 ice cubes blend pour into a champagne flute and, top up with champagne or sparkling wine.
Fishhound Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Congrats Rob. Me and the girlfriend bought one last summer for the yard. Great for summer time parties. I find a lot of my recipes from a website. http://www.drinksmixer.com/ Lots a good ones, have fun trying them out.

Warren Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Will floral pattern shirts be mandatory deck wear from now on?
PDC1 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Will floral pattern shirts be mandatory deck wear from now on? You say that like it's a bad thing.
Warren Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 You say that like it's a bad thing. Oh no , I just want to make sure I bring my camera next time.
Van55 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 You say that like it's a bad thing. Oh, it is a bad thing. At least the pink one is.
asmith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Will floral pattern shirts be mandatory deck wear from now on? I don't care for the floral shirt to sit on the deck, but a bag of ice every time you turn up will be favourably looked upon.
Warren Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't care for the floral shirt to sit on the deck, but a bag of ice every time you turn up will be favourably looked upon. I'm sure that could be arranged mate.
cabaiguan juan Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 like they say, alcohol is the cause and solution of all of lifes problems.
