Van55 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 There's a new history book just out here in the U.S. titled Havana Nocturne: How the Mob Owned Cuba and Then Lost It to the Revolution by T. J. English Got it for myself as a Christmas gift and have just started reading it. Interesting so far. Anyone read this? Apparently it was first published in the U.K.
El Presidente Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Van we were just discussing this book the other day http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...c=95969&hl= I am half way through it. Enjoyed another few chapters yesterday with a Connoisseur No 2. Ironic that Batista and Lansky came from poverty while Castro was the son of a wealthy landowner educated first by the catholics and then Jesuits.

Ken Gargett Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 That is right. Blame it on the filthy papists! always a good choice. they have a lot to answer for, about as much as every other religion, though this may not be the time of year for such a thought.
El Presidente Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Jesuits ARE Catholics. The Maintstrean Catholics never really trusted those Jesuit Catholic "Lefties" with all their individual thought ideology. Dangerous stuff
