Mr. Japan Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I decided to light up a cigar gifted me by AlbertoMagnus. He said to me that this cigar comes from Rob&Lisa as a friend bought it and bring back from Brisbane to Napoli. It is A/T, a julieta2,47*178, known as Monarcas from H.Upmann. Once opened on my lips I could feel plenty spices and also cedar wood was present lot. After cutting (a bit more than usual …… by mistake) the draw was smooth and very easy to light-up and smoke. Wrapper is of a nice colorado color with some veins, but the overall construction is excellent. Smoke is very tick and the aroma in the room is lovely, at end of first third I start feeling nice strength and coffee and nuts are predominant. During the second and 3/3 the cigar is been really creamy but at same time "kindly"strong, very well balanced. I do not know the age of this cigar but if I had a box I would keep for many other years as it has a great potential of development. This monarcas is been a perfect friend for the evening, 95/100 my final judgment after about 100 minutes of complete relax. The best churchill I have smoked from a long time, better than some SW smoked. GRAZIE ALBERTO and of course THANK YOU ROB&LISA.

Guest rob Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Cool review Gino. I smoked a Upmann Sir Winston from 03 on Christmas day and I was blown away by how good it was. Your review was similar to my experience. It's why Upmann are one of my 3 favourite brands these days.
El Presidente Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 It really is a small world I like reading your reviews Gino because in your words you can hear the joy and simple pleasures. I too am coming more and more around to Upmann. Partagas is not yet threatened.....but looking over its shoulder
Mel Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 In the Julieta 2 format the Upmanns walk all over the Paragas, IMHO.
anacostiakat Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Great review indeed! A cigar that I smoked smoked a few of. I think they are better the older they are and are a good buy in relation to the Winnies. Sadly I find Upmann's blossum over five years and best at 7 - 8. I just have trouble waiting that long. . .
