I guess that's gran reserva which contains 15 sticks and will be produced about 5000 boxes.

Missing the Boat totally IMHO, should be rolling Siglo IV's instead. That could be because I have absolutely NO Respect for the Siglo VI, it has never delivered a satisfactory smoking experience for me. I have always been underwhelmed because of lack of flavor, strength, complexity. OK, it is too frigging big (ring gauge) as well!!! Better yet, what about making some Cohiba Corona Especiales from 04 leaf? Now those would be some cigars that would turn the world on fire! Seams like Habanos S.A. is always a day late and a few dollars short and try to re-invent the world, hell even the Non-Cuban manufacturers are trending toward thinner ring gauged cigars these days.

Sounds cool, but this is gonna be an expensive cigar! :king:

Prez, was there anything in particular about the 2004 crop that makes it particularly well suited to the Siglo VI blend?

Tampa, I wouldn't mind some Lanceros with 2004 leaf either...

I would also welcome the idea of using the stock to make different sizes instead of Sig VI.

My only concern would be the integrity to vitola being made.

Not taking into account the EL's... the thing I like about Cohiba's is that each of them has their own style while still clearly part of the same family.

Tampa, maybe the stock they have is rubbish... and that's why they're rolling them into Sig VI's. :king:

I think you've had a bad run of Siglo VI's, they're usually epic, definitely my favorite all around.

I'm looking forward to smoking the new ones at the Gala dinner.

Just goes to show you. I feel the same way about the SIG IV. My favorite is the SIG V actually. I did find the two 08 SIG VIs I tried pretty good with more body and flavor.

Chuck- I thought I was in the minority. I have not yet had one "wow" me.

Hey Prez, just for clarification is "04 crop" what was rolled and boxed in 06 or what was rolled and boxed in 04? FWIW, the 03's are just amazing cigars. I had 07's and while they were obviously made with first class tobacco and well rolled were nowhere near the level of body, flavor and intensity to the 03's. Maybe its a blend issue or maybe its an age issue all I know is that if they all age as well as the 03's this is a cigar worth a hefty premium.

I assure you that you and Chuck ARE in the minority on these. Despite their girth, I have enjoyed them tremendously from the very first box I bought in 2003. I would put them on the mild-medium scale, but they're extremely flavorful, complex, balanced and enjoyable to me. Perhaps my favorite Cohiba.

I think the only reason they are using the 04 crop is because they are creating a new line called Gran Reserva seleccion using five year old tobacco (similar to the Reserva seleccions which use three year old tobacco). Since these are being rolled in 09 the tobacco needs to be from 04 and whatever the Reserva seleccion is will have tobacco from 06. Anybody got a guess on the price of these new Cohibas? I'm guessing around $60 each, unless they put them in a fancy humidor then all bets are off.

Guess for me - $33.00 US/per cigar or $800 for a box of 15, if that is how they are released; which I think is expensive. Will it be great? Forget if you prefer slim or fat ring gauge, just try this smoke and see what you think. It may be incredible and it may not, but previous or regular allegiance to small vs. thick ring gauge is not a way to base your feelings on a cigar like this. Smoke one and see if you like it. I know some believe thick cigars do not age. Personally, I think they are wrong. They do age differently; but they do age.

Thick or thin (and more often thick these days, imnsho), HSA nails it once in a while. Forget what anyone else is saying. Decide what you think after having tried one or two of any cigar which is not widely known. Maybe the Siglo VI is it. Forget what anyone else says, whether it is me, or Rob Ayala, or Ken

Gargettt, or Colt45, etc.. What you think is the MOST important issue. Not what we or anyone else thinks. When I was a recording engineer, I told everyone to trust their ears. As a cigar nut, I would tell everyone to trust their own palate, tastes, smells, etc. What you think of a cigar is all that matters really...

i think some of the current release, regular production smokes are incredible. I think some of the current limited releases are excellent. I think there are losers in both categories too.

Another vote against the VI. Had the first release from 03 & a couple other years. They were not impressive & I wound up selling or trading them. Much prefer the IV & V.

Add me to the assured minority list as well. I've found the Siglo VI to be a fairly bland cigar. Combined with the excessive

girth, I've never felt the desire to acquire more.

The aged tobacco release (if it is released) may end up being a very good cigar, but I still wouldn't be in a hurry to try them.

sorry, but i am in the boat with those who do not feel for the sig VI. all the samples i have had just did not grab me like most cohibas do. grabbed another 3 pack of tubos recently, smoked one and gave the rest away. too big and not enough flavor for me.

now a CE or lancero, i have had some that were heaven like!

I really love everyone who has responded, and I get the thin cigar fans. Thin cigars have more potential for age and nuance. That being said, there are some truly incredible Siglo VI's out there. Further. some fat cigars age beautifully, but they often require far more time than thin cigars.

That all being said I love large cigars. Maybe most of you are not man enough?

A mundane cigar is a mundane cigar regardless of size. Many like this cigar, so I've no doubt there are some good

VIs out there, but instead of searching them out, I'll just light up a Bolivar CG, Partagas 898, etc, and enjoy.

Are you saying you can take it like a man?!?
