Hi Gang!

I've heard many great things about this forum and am happy to have joined. I believe several friends of mine are on this board and I look forward to learning much from you all.

Welcome, Chris. Good to have you with us. You're easily our northernmost member. You'll have to share with us a little about life in Nunavut. Is the arctic melt having any impact on commerce yet? How's the weather?

Thank you for the welcome Shrink!

Our weather is pretty brutal already but it is a very dry cold once it locks in so you just dress for it and once you get past a certain temperature cold is just cold!

Our economy is quite unique in that most of our business comes directly or indirectly from our territorial government. As Nunavut is a young (1999) territory and it's mineral deposits and such are largely untapped the funding is fairly constant on a yearly basis.

Unfortunately I cannot smoke in the house and it is cold outside - oh say 8 months of the year - I don't get to smoke nearly as many cigars as I purchase so I suppose I will have many aged sticks to enjoy at a later time. If I could devise a way to smoke in comfort and not hassle my family and friends with smoke I would do it in a heartbeat. Someday...

Welcome Chris and thanks for the intro.

Hats off to you guys who can live in a cold climate. I start shaking under 20 degrees Celsius.

This is a great site Chris, welcome from another Canuck

Hey thanks for the welcome fellow Canuck but c'mon - Vancouver isn't part of Canada - it is it's own slice of paradise! It is above Canada floating along in the clouds. Yeah I sort of love the place!

Yes Chris it is a little bit of paradise usually, but we have this god awful arctic front that has the temp ranging from -6 to about -12c at night, TURN OFF THE TAP! A group of us have a herf this Saturday on a nice patio in town for the evening, it'll be mucklucks and toques for sure.

I agree, dry cold is the key. Temp is overrated. Here in Chicago where winters are damp and windy, it sucks. In northern Sweden where its twice as cold but DRY, I can spend all day outside (if i'm moving).

You should stock up on CCs in the Fall, then you will be forced to let them sit for a while and smoke them the next summer!
