El Presidente Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I am working on a Gobal Cigar Index to be used within the trade. Effectively a score out of 100 (doesn't need to be 100) which can be filled out anonymously online each quarter. In effect it is to be used to measure consumer confidence within the retail cigar trade. Using 1-10 as a benchmark scoring pattern (1 being equivalent to Nil and 10 definately). Help me come up with some meaningful questions. Some samples: * How likely is the chance you will purchase cigars in the next 30 days. 1-------------------------10 * How likely is the chance you will purchase a box or multiple boxes of cigars in the next 30 days. 1-------------------------10 * How are current economic conditions negatively affecting your buying intentions. 1--------------------------10 * Do you forsee in the following 12 months purchasing more or less cigars than the past 12 months. ***the Same level would equate to a score of 5. 1--------------------------10
Colt45 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 What do you consider most when purchasing cigars and cigar accessories? * assign a number to each that applies, 1 being most important: — Brand name recognition — Quality of Product — Product Packaging — Celebrity Endorsement etc.....
Tampa1257 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Interesting market survey of purchase willingness considering the financial conditions. Expendable income vs consumer confidence of near future obligations.

Exactly ;-) Over time we can have a series of numbers going back years. If we see in good times an average number at 80 and then a quarter at 60 we can see a drop in the Global Cigar Index and a likely pointer to difficult times ahead within the industry. I would envision cigar websites globally would participate in the poll so that we can get a crossection of demographics.
