I now have my "new humidor" - The Genova Model

What ( if anything) do I have to do to break it in ?

The gauge reads 90 % right now

Does it need to air out ?

I have a digital unit on order along with the beads

Any ideas ?

Perform a salt test on your humidistat and make sure it's accurate. 90% seems awfully high. If it's steady at 90% now you probably don't want to season it. In fact, you're going to want to absorb some of that moisture. When you get the beads put them in dry (assuming the 90% is accurate.)

Where do you live and what's the ambient humidity there?

1. Calibrate the hygrometer. Make sure it is reading correctly and if not at least note the +/- differential.

2. Throw away your humidifiers and use the beads. If humidity is high, don't moisten beads.

3. Put the cigars in.

4. Monitor every couple of days. It will take a week or two to stabilize. Don't panic :-)
