I was in 2 hrs of Nirvana with a 2006 Estupendos and Youngs Double Chocolate Stout.

The cocoa and cream in the cigar was just a perfect match for the not too sweet and not too bitter stout. The subtle chocolate finish on this brew was the icing on the cake for the final 1/3 of deep, dark chocolate notes of the Estupendos. Good times!

I'd like to hear others input for that perfect pairing...

My favourites include:

Espresso (Italian) coffees

Coke

Bundaberg Ginger Beer.

Just recently have been delving into some Hennessey XO Cognacs and Single Malt Scotches... but I generally prefer them on their own.

Same with wine... I love them with a passion but find they are better with food than they are with cigars.

Bourbon and Partagas.

Bourbon and Boli.

Bourbon and Cohiba.

Bourbon and Ramon Allones.

Bourbon and Upmann.

Bourbon and . . . oh you get the idea.

Great rum is hard to beat with a cigar. Santiago 11 being my rum of choice when I can't access Kens.

Freshly brewed Espresso. Black aslo goes great with a morning cigar.

Lately, 03 Sir Winston's and a decent bottle of Spanish Cava has really hit the spot. A bottle of champagne from a small French label would probably be better, but much more expensive.

I generally drink either water, Rum, or coffee with my smokes but this was a perfect pairing. IMO this beer would be awful with a partagas or even a Bolivar but with this particular RA it was great.

the best so far for me is stella artois with an ERDM grande de espana. so far the '97's are the best match, but any would do the trick.

In the winter months, it seems that the flavors of a good single malt - like Laphroaig - matches exceedingly well with most of what I smoke.

In the summer months, I like to pair up some good german beer - like Hacker Pschorr.

Hi aavkk,

I tried something last night, not too bad.

I first smoked an OLIVA master blend 3 and paired

it with HAVANA CLUB 7years. The spiceness of the cigar,

(peppery), almost overpowered the rum but it was nice and

interesting. later in the evening ,I then tried a H UPMANN

MAG. 50 EL 2005 and paired it with MATUSALEM D.R. 15years

I must say they went together quiet well, the sweet floral taste

and buttery notes, mixed with leather and nuttyness of the MAG

50 went well with the almost metallic and licorice hints of this

excellent rum.

Pairing for pairing, the test was excellent.:hungry:

Cheers:waving:

I'm still in the experimental stage but for the most part i'll pair a good smoke with one of my my mainstays: Coffee, Guinness or a nice Hefeweizen. ;-)

Wow, I have a sudden urge to restock my bar...

Some of my favorite pairings:

- a Montecristo #5 and a proper pint of Guinness

- anything from Por Larannaga with a slightly sweetened glass of iced tea

- a Partagas 898 with a nice tawny port

- starting the weekend with a Cohiba Club and a cup of fresh roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, black with a little sugar

Wow, great list. I can definitely agree with the Partagas and Ron Zacapa. I'm familiar with the fonseca 20 yr but never paired it with RA. That is something I will have to try. I will say that I prefer the Fladgate 20 yr if you havent tried it give it a shot.

Some beverages really pair well with my smokes: Dark Roast Coffee, Rum, Bourbon, Single Malt, brandy, congnac. But I've also found I like some less traditional parirings with a cigar: water (still and sparkling), Martini (normally Gin), and too many beers to list individually though I tend toward stouts.
