sepp Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Here are the top ten things I have learned in reading, researching and just laughing while exploring FOH. 10) "Wankers and Tossers" - Not fully set on the definitions at this point but I am certain I never want to be one! 9) "Fakes are Abundant" and probably out number Authentic CCs consumed by the mass public; know your sources! 8) "CCs and NCs are different", Doh! Despite what I thought I had as a Premium NC palate, getting to know the Classic Cuban taste profile is exhilarating and takes time. 7) "70/70" the biggest myth in cigar lore. My cabinet is now at 63/65/67 top/mid/bottom with show and upcoming smokes on the top. 7) "Dry Box It Anyway" Dry boxing (a real foreign concept if you buy into 70/70) is like letting a bottle of Cabernet breath. Dryboxing can help with most tight and draw issues in CCs. 5) "CC's are a firmer draw", embrace it, learn to handle the cigars right (63% and dry boxing). 4) "Patience is key" with rest good cigars can be great, great cigars can be outstanding. Learn to say no… 3) "FOH is knowledgeable, helpful and just a fun bunch!" 2) "Czar and team rule" Great board and great bunch of folks. Thank you Lisa for the timely responses and information. 1) "It is a slippery slope", indeed! I just finished a Monte No. 4 (UTA NOV 07). Had to cut the puppy's walk short because I wanted to sit and enjoy the smoke. This is the 5th or 6th from the box and the differences that 63% (for the last 3 weeks) and Dry boxing (24 hours) had on the experience, wow! Now I have to hide the box away and let the little buggers sleep. And there is the slippery slope because I am still going to need something to smoke tomorrow! What did I miss that is key to "newbie" bliss?

sepp Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 » You've been registered for 4 days! My hats off to you!!! Thanks Slick! Got any more of those Cohiba Pyramides? ;-)
El Presidente Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 11) Box codes are a guide only. You never know how many boxes we picked over....boxes of the same code. 12) pre release LE's and RR's purchased in Havana can be very different to the general release stock of same. Pre release reviews (including ours) should be taken with a pinch of salt. 13) The cigar is not the main event. A cigar is simply the cross on "T" the dot on an "i". It enhances a state of mind and the company you are with. 14) Ken can't fish. 15) The petals on the inside of a Cohiba Sigko VI tube cap can be made up of 8 panels or 16 ;-) 16) Lisa is priceless. :-D Any more?
SmokinAl Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 18) Don't trust El Pres with your women. 19) Dont Trust Colt ever.
johns1485 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 20) Habanos don't come in glass-top boxes. 21) Rob can drink.

SmokinAl Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 23) Words like "perfidiousness" make my head hurt. 24) Ken has a bitchin' vocabulary and is a master of the cacophemism
El Presidente Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 24) Ken has a bitchin' vocabulary and is a master of the cacophemism Interesting. I would have said master of the dysphemism but certainly cacophemism is not out of place.
Ken Gargett Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 » » Interesting. I would have said master of the dysphemism but certainly » cacophemism is not out of place. oh, spare me. who shoved a dictionary down your throat!! that from a man who would normally not know his anatidaephobia from his ergasiophobia!
SmokinAl Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 The seemingly endless rodomontade of sciolism by you solipsists jackanapes is STILL making my head hurt. (ps. Look up “anatidaephobia”...if you say to yourself after reading it “I am not along, there are others like me” then all I can say is welcome to FOH brother.)

sepp Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 » Apologies for the thread jack. are you kidding me... This is exactly what I am talking about, not only are we up to about 24 things I should have learned but I am laughing so hard I just spilled coffee all over the desk....
Colt45 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 25) RA and KG argue like Felix and Oscar of the odd couple, or Lemmon and Matthau of grumpy old men, or the way I look at it, Robin Williams and Nathan Lane of the bird cage. i saw that, bloody fingers.....
Grasso Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 » 15) The petals on the inside of a Cohiba Sigko VI tube cap can be made up » of 8 panels or 16 ;-) Haha, yes . . .
sinnyc Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 26) Life is too short to smoke bad cigars. 27) Smoke what you like and like what you smoke. - Tim
mkz Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 28. Your wife DOESN´T need to know how much cigars you have and how much money you´ve spent on them.
