yossie
Cigars in one of my humidors are terrible. It's absolutely genuine. and All of them are bad flavor. So, I wonder Temperature affect on taste or not. Temperature of here differ from 35 C to -2-3 C. I know It's not a good place to store cigar. So, My current main storage is coolidor. but the rest of cigars are had to put in desktop humidors. Have you experienced this kind of problem ever? If there's a method to recover them , Please tell me..
jdbrown
Yossie, 35 C would equate to 95 Farenheit! No wonder they are awful! You will get bad stomach pain and awful taste! They need 16-18C. Get em in proper environment and leave alone for a few weeks!
Colt45
» Temperature of here differ from 35 C to -2-3 C. Yossie, at the high temps, what is your humidity level? A higher humidity can really muddle the flavor of a cigar.

But allowing cigars to get above 75-80 degrees Farenheit would undoubtedly impair them. Allowing them to get up to 95 would introduce another level of concerns, primarily beetles. If your smokes get above 80 for any length of time, I'd be shocked if beetles didn't severely infest your humidor. The best solution I can think of is to get the humidor to a cool place (i.e., under 20 C) and forget about it for as long as you can. Maybe a big block of time (I'm thinking 6+ months) would help. However, if your cigars are regularly experiencing swings from low to high, and in a short period of time, they are going be degraded quickly. I cannot imagine that they'd be satisfying to smoke. On another forum, one fellow vac-pac'd some cigars and then put them in boiling water for a short period of time. His account was that the cigars did change not unlike but not entirely like extended natural aging. I wouldn't do it but it was good to see somebody make the experiment. It sounds like your cigars have been degraded past the point of no recovery. Sorry. Wilkey

I would assume your apartment has heating and air conditioning and that you dont leave the humidor outside on the balcony or so?

Guest rob
Where I live, outside temps vary quite a lot. Summers get to above 35C (93F) Winters often as low as -3C (26F) That leaves my inside temps (in my fridgedoors) swinging from 18c (65F) in summer to 8c (46F) in winter. Even though I can control the summer temps with the fridge on... there's really no way to heat the basement area so that the temps dont get so low. I spoke to El Prez earlier this year about it and he said that he wouldn't worry about it... and I trust his judgment. If you can get less change between maximum and minimum you should be fine. Well, if you have A/C and heating and a coolidor, all you need is a puck in the desktop and a heated toilet seat with adjustable water jet, ass hair dryer and a radio :-D

People told me the taste never recover. so, I use the cigars in the humidor only for taking nicotine. Since recently I stop taking cigarette, I still need nicotine. I beleive the number of the cigars is about 100 and it's enough for the purpose. Thanks.
