joeydoggs333 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 mY HUMIDOR HAS A HUMIDITY LEVEL OF 73% AND THE TEMP IS ABOUT 69-70 DEGREES. iS THIS A GOOD SET, REASON I AM ASKING IS BECAUSE I READ ALOT ABOUT PEOPLE KEEPING THEIR STICKS AT 68 HUMIDITY. IS THERE A BIG DIFFERENCE OR IS IT PREFERANCE. MY CIGARS SMOKE PRETTY GOOD, SMOOTH.
mkz Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 » MY CIGARS SMOKE PRETTY GOOD, I keep mine between 64-66% and they smoke better than pretty good... IMO: around 65% = better taste, better burn, better draw and less risk for mold. I´m sure others have different opinions. You´ll just need to find the setup thats best for you.
El Presidente Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I keep mine at 63% - 65%. I find it perfect for my tastes. If you wish to get your humidity down, head across to www.cigarmoney.com and pick up one or two 65% "Pucks". Work a treat.
smokum Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 At that temp and humidity you are playing Russian Roulette with the beetles. Trevor has put together an amazingly helpful and informative site...its fun to read thru. Here is the section on temp and humidity http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/7-cigars.htm
kilroy Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I have 2 different humidity settings in my humidors: For storage and aging I keep them at 68-69%. When it comes time to smoke depending on ring size, length and oiliness of the wrapper I'll pull out the sticks I want for the next week and put them in a drawer I keep at 62% (the prep drawer). Petite coronas need less time to 'dehumidify' as opposed to the double coronas etc and oilier wrappers are hydrophobic and sometimes won't breathe as well. Does it really help all that much? I've blind tested from both drawers (obviously not using CCs) and there's no doubt.

Thanks for the heads up on the 65% pucks, will definitely pick up a couple!
