JMH Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I found out the other day, that there's going to be a partagas roller visiting a local shop for a number of days in early November. The last day he is there is also the day that I finish my HSC (Nov. 11th) so I think that this is a pretty irrefutable sign that I have to get a cigar rolled for myself :-P I'd prefer to get a thin ring cigar, but do you guys think I'm at risk of the guy rolling it too tightly? I know Rob has had a few rollers up at his place.... any comments? I'm thinking of these shapes: *Delicados - 192mm (7.5") x 38 *Dalias - 170mm (6.75") x 43 *Cervantes - 165mm (6.5") x 42 Any suggestions?

JMH Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 He'll be at Havana House - Shop 1, 1 Martin Place, The Westin Hotel. The Westin bar/restuarant is right next to the shop, and is also cigar friendly. I'm not sure of the first date he'll be there, but the shops phone # is 9233 9700 so you can call and inquire about it. While we're all trading info here, you guys know of any good bars/restuarnts around the city that don't mind you lighting up? :-D
cvm4 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Congrats on getting to see a roller! Is it someone with a following from Partagas?

Most of the Big Hotels are Cigar Friendly. Kingsley's Steak and Cigar Bar - CBD, Kingsley's Steak and Crabhouse in the Wharf - Woolloomooloo and Kingsleys Schnitzel and Alehouse - Woolloomooloo. Fine steaks. Nb: Kingsley's Steak and Crabhouse only allows cigar after 10pm. www.steak.com.au COHIbar at Darling Harbour is also another place. I am sure others on this forum knows more..
habanablue Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Winstons at Stamford Plaza in Double Bay if you are in that neck of the woods. worth the drive though!
n2advnture Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 If it's Jaime Hamlet Paredes (aka Hamlet) I will trade you my first born for a bundle! :-P
GoatLocker Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 » Any suggestions? I'm with Elric, Dalias! Might try to get something big for those special occassions too, like salomons
Ken Gargett Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 i still have hamlet robustos (tho went thru most like wildfire) and a salamones in the humidor. they are great cigars. » If it's Jaime Hamlet Paredes (aka Hamlet) I will trade you my first born » for a bundle! :-P
Ken Gargett Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 do know exactly who but i believe that it will not be hamlet.
El Presidente Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 The roller is Ramses Pantoja Herrera who honed his skills at the Partagas Factory before being promoted to Rolling Room Supervisor. Ramses specialises in Pyramids, Perfectos, Diademas and Salomones. He speaks fluent English and has represented Habanos s.a regularly over the last couple of years. He is a young guy at 32/33 years of age so arrange to take him out on the town :-D I think going out on the town is a reason Hamlet is not allowed back

Called Havana House, they advised that the Roller is currently scheduled to be in from 7th - 12th Nov but that could change due to the Visa the roller needs and when Customs is allowing the raw tobacco in . Apparently they had that problem last year. So the dates are not set yet. Also, found out that the Roller is currently in Hong Kong rolling cigars at the moment. His name is Remus. He will be rolling mostly Robustos, Robustos Extras, Churchills and Piramides. He will also roll Demus (Jope I spelt it correct) as that is his favourite cigar to roll. If you have a specific Cigar, he will do requests. Hope that is of help and see everyone there.
jay8354 Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Well, El Prez beat me to the punch and got correct info. Can't help it, he is the El Prez for a reason. :-D
joerose Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Hamlet rolls at RyJ. Still have a few double robustos from 02 that he rolled for me and a few sallys. Man he can be great.

JMH Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 Sorry about the wrong number, but that's what they've got printed on a box of matches I have sitting next to me. Thanks for the info rob. If they make a night of it, I'll be absolutely stoked.
Freefallguy Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 How cool would that be... Parti roller one week in Sydney, a big cigar bash grand opening in Brissy the following week... one can only dream!
Arkay Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 » » I think going out on the town is a reason Hamlet is not allowed back Hamlet just came back from 4 months in Asia--they still let him out but barely!
thschrminm Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 The best part for me in meeting these master torcedores is the stories and experiences that they have to share... which for me has really opened my eyes to the world of Habanos... Taboada was one of those greats!!!
strayvector Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 » Anyone else heard anymore about the Roller? Nope, but if you fly through London in the next 4 weeks, look for the master roller that H&F brought in at the cigar shops at London Heathrow. He'll be at Terminal 3 until end of next week, the 3 weeks at Terminal 4. I usually just browse at the shops since I can't swallow the prices in London, but this time there was a special incentive to spend. Spend 15 pounds and you can buy a custom rolled cigar for one pound. So visited the shop twice and bought 2. Quite amazing to watch him roll the cigars that I'm actually going to smoke.
