some forum members might recall rob's recent review of these, a cigar he has long disliked. i think it was based on recommendations by colt. turns out he loved them (yet another trip on the road to damascus and haven't we had a few of those). his was code OSU MAR 02, and he urged us all on to that bandwagon. so on i hopped (he put me on to the No 1's a few years ago and, although i have not seen one for a bit, i really did enjoy them).

i collected my box and did the freezer bit. was not going to have a cigar last night but post work had settled down to watch a late night movie, godfather 2, and when they hit havana, that was it. so grabbed one of these. then checked the code. OSU OCT 02. so just assumed that i'd become a dumping ground for the dodgy ones he didn't like. i refer you to a quote from his post - "Get your hands on this box code {ie, not the one he sold me}. Lise has them minus the two boxes I took for myself today. Give them maybe another six months to a year but no longer as I don't know how it could become much better."

situation pretty much normal. still, it really did look good and i fired it up.

i would now like to offer either -

a) myself as a dumping ground for all such cigars; or

B) my humblest apologies and grovelling thanks and state for the record, i wonder how i could possibly have ever doubted you (though i suspect you'd be wise not to get used to that).

what a terrific cigar! will dig out another for a proper review but what i did note was different to your review was that this was all honey. masses and masses of honey - more than i've ever seen in a cigar before. i figure with 24 left, this is going to be all over by early june.

hence, my next query - do you have any more?

i meant to add that i also thought that it had heaps of future potential and that in five or ten, could be one of the greats. hence the need for more because i am not that strong.

I re-read that post three times..... just to ensure I could confirm....I WAS CORRECT

Colt deserves the praise for bringing it to my attention. I wasn't really looking forward doing the review based on past experiences.

Yes we have a few 02 boxes left.

I have a box OSU june 2002 too and I totally agree with you Ken. These are fantastic, and in 2 weeks I burned 4 of them. Very tasty, intense honey and beautiful oily maduro wrapper!

It's a shame the cubans don't put much attention on that brand, I don't even know if the No.2 is still in production!?!? I've seen tainos from '07 but no more No.2 or No. 4...

LGC and PL are two of the best brands and they are killing them....:-(

the '02's are superb, but if you really want to try these cigars then get your hands on some '98's. those are the ****!

i now nthat rob has '07s (he doesn't know this - thinks that they are more '02s, but lisa old me).

after getting so wound up about these, could not resist another last night. it was good but nowhere near as good as the one from the night before. here's hoping the rest match the first.

I have a box of '02s from awhile ago that are amazing. The first puff of every cigar Ive smoked from the box have the most intense sweet honey flavor I have ever had in a cigar. I just got another box of the 02s from Rob to rest a little. Let's hope these are as good - they should be, same year and box code.
