This box so far has been a mixed bag . Several with construction problems but man when they are proper they are awful good

Long day at work. Beuatiful weather . 70 degrees and sunny. Birds are singing..probably because they just **** on my car.

On to the Partagas de Partagas.

This one was slightly thinner than the rest so I chose it. Dark beautiful oily looking wrapper. Cold draw is just clean tobacco. Clipped it and draw was perfect. Initital draw has good smoke volume and hints of pepper thru the nose and a nice molasses background. Good start.

1/3 - Ash very flaky and striated but still firm enough to hang on. So far great flavors of molasses which is growing in strength. What is striking to me is there is no aftertaste at all. This is getting good. I am curious on why there is no aftertaste. I push on loving it so far

2/3- I touched the burn up and get going. Its starting to open up in mouthfeel coating my mouth with flavor. I sense a citrus rind taste on the roof of my mouth. It doesn't last long but the combination of citrus and sweet molasses has got my attention. I watch a squirrel digging up peanuts in my lawn from some jackass down the road who feeds them. I contemplate this for a moment, since I only have a .45 handy I figured I would make a bigger hole in the lawn. I leave the squirrel alone.

I nubbed it...all through the final 3rd it grew in flavor and wound up at a perfect medium body. sweet molases, dark cocoa comes and goes,a spot of coffee and raisins. This was an excellent cigar. Maybe I just needed a great cigar today...friggin squirrel is still digging

If I had to rate it....91/100

Nice review.

I caught my first raccoon of the year last night(hav a heart trap) and quickly dispatched him this morning alla semi-auto 22 pistol.

You're right 45 would have obliterated that tree rat.

Ahhhhh...Habanos and handguns....add alcohol and you may have struck the perfect cord to reverse the anti cigar crusades

Great review mate of an excellent cigar. You are right in that construction integrity has always been an annoyance. Yet...get a good one and they are superb.

^Classic! :-D

Thanks for the review. Some brothers got me a box of these for my birthday this year.

Still have yet to try one but it looks promising. TD

Thanks for the review/pics! I don't have too much trouble with

the squirrels, but armadillos are becoming quite troublesome around

these parts. I rigged up an AK-47 with a red dot laser , will have to

post some pics of my night time hauls. :-)

Seems like if you were using an AK, you would only have bits and pieces for your hauls. :-P

Don't blame the squirrel. I thought you were contemplating shooting the jackass.

Sounds like a great cigar - thanks for the review. If both on the top of their game,

how do you guys think these compare with the P 898V.

That is, if you had to choose one or the other, which would it be?

»898V wins for me. Never had any luck with those PDP 1's.

I don't know about a competition, probably would go to the 898 if it came to that.

However, the PdP are worth a look with age. I've had a couple that reminded me of an aged Lonsdale in their profile.

The outcome may surprise some. Of the 898 from 06 I have smoked...this PdP 1 whipeed the 06's ass... these are really good but to get a good one you have to go thru a couple steel darts that are not smokeable. This was truly a great cigar and kept me mesmerized.

That is surprising, but stranger things have happened! I've had some PdP's from late '03, but they sure didn't look dark and oily, or taste as good as yours did. I have some '99s humidifying that I am looking forward to trying.

Can you share the boxcode on your '06 898V's? The ones I have are truly sublime.

No doubt the OEB/ABR06 898's are truly sublime Shrink. It may have been my mood, the day or whatever but this PdP just blew me away...this may have been 1 in a thousand and the previous specimens from this box were not as stellar...but if there are more in this box that can compare to the one I smoked..I would choose them over the 898's. Actually the whole box is rather dark and oily but so far quite a few were so tight they were unsmokeable.

I have a box from the same year. I smoked one last year and they were not that great. After a year, I smoked two in the last three days...They were great!!!
