Montecristo \"Edicion Limitada 2007\" Churchills.

I recently came upon a purported box of Montecristo Edicion Limitada 2007 "Churchills." I believe no such animal exists, is it possible they exist for a particular market.

Here are some particulars:

1. The Habanos Chevron appears as it should. Underneath "Habanos" and the black leaf are the words (all caps) "DENOMINACION DE ORIGEN PROTEGIDA." Under that is another chevron stating "Edicion Limitada 2007." The box front says "25-Churchills"

2. The Republica de Cuba stamp looks ok and with the split in the proper place on the box. On the right front is a hologram. When placed under light you see "aqui su garantia" above the Habanos logo. It says Cuba underneath that a few times. At the bottom of the hologram is a serial code beginning with CC and then 6 numbers.

3. The box bottom has the "Habanos sa" "Hecho en cuba" and "totalmente a mano." All are branded into the box as they should be.

4. The box date is EOG-FEB07

5. Also on the back is another stamp. It is circular. It is actually a double circle. In between the 2 circles, at the top, it says "Vendido en Cuba." At the bottom between the circles it says "comintur." In the middle it says "tiendas cubanacan."

6. Inside the box the cigars all appear triple capped. Nothing of note that I can see about the bands. They look like the traditional Montecristo band and have the 2nd "limitada" band as well.

7. The parchment paper has the usual language in the 4 langauage about the "havanas."

Any chance at all these are real?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Has anyone even heard of a Churchill vitola for Montecristo, let alone the 2007 Limitada?

What about that stamp on the box bottom which seems to suggest that the cigars were for sale in Cuba itself? Does that mean anything?

None. I know we all like to say, "Hey, it's Cuba!" But this is certainly not one of those cases.

On another note, they should make a Monte Churchill.....that'd be a hell of a smoke :hungry:

» Would love to see a photo

I am going to try to post some photos. It seems obvious based upon the churchill vitola (does not exist) and "Limitada 2007" (does not exist for Montecristo) that these cigars are fugazi.

But I lean on the experts for more analyais because I want to learn.

The Habanos chevron and the words "Denominacion de origen protegida/" What does that mean and is it normal for those words to be printed on the Habanos sticker at the top right of the box?

The hologram on the lower right front that under the light says "aqui su garantia." What is the significance to that hologram? Why don't all boxes have such a hologram?

The extra stamp on the back of the box. "Vendido en Cuba." "Tiendas Cubanacan" "Comintur." Whatr does that mean and why is it on any particular box? Legitimate stamp?

Thanks to all for your assistance/guidance.

Is the factory of origin always above the box date?

Fake..Only deal with trusted VENDORS and you will have 100% all the time.

Seen many fakes like yours floating around in the states here big money the counterfeit market .

Looked at over 200+ boxes at the lounge in the last year+ and all have been fake.

The date stamps on the back to the Monti symbols to the holo sticker on front are all wrong.

What are the 2 letters on the seal i bet they dont match up with date on back of box?

As this is always a dead give away too but sorry that is a fake box.

I have seen everything when it come to fakes more than most people.

Caesar, for the sake of conversation, even if everything else on the box were correct, that these are purported to

be Montecristo churchills, and '07 ELs at that, is a red flag.

Even if they are made of Cuban tobacco - they might be good cigars - they would not be legitimate Habanos,

no matter what anyone might try to tell you.

I am not "rooting" for these to be legit. There is no MC Churchill and there is no 2007 Limitada. Those facts speak for themselves and end the fugazi discussion. They are without a doubt bogus.

I am more interested in the other things I have pointed out--the stamps and the writing on them, etc. This is for general knowledge going forward.

Caesar,

The best advice I can give you is to buy your cigars from autorized merchants. Habanos, S.A. is the sole company that distributes cigars only through its network of authorized distributors, who in turn sell the cigars to merchants. If you have any doubts on the merchant, check with the Habanos, S.A. appointed distributorship in the particular region. If you're in another country, do your homework in advance or else buy from the local La Casa del Habano (LCDH) shop. LCDH shops are basically Habanos, S.A. franchises and carry only authentic cigars. It can sometimes be very tough to spot counterfeits by stickers, box codes, seals, stamps, cigar bands, etc. For one thing, even with authentic Habanos there is a great deal of inconsistency from one batch of boxes, bands, etc. to the next. And for another, it's easy to reproduce pretty convincing counterfeit packaging. Again, the best advice is to do your homework ahead of time and verify your merchant before you travel or buy.
