Advice on Tasting

Recommended Posts

I am new to Cubans, and have only had the pleasure of a couple of Monte No. 2"s. They were superb.

My tasting preferences in NCs tend towards Padron Serie 1926s--medium/full bodies with some spice.

Any suggestions on what CCs are comparable to these cigars would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try Partagas SD#4, Shorts, 898 Varnished and the Serie Du Connaisseur series to start along with Bolivar CEs, PCs and GCs if that is what you are looking for.

There is also the RyJ Cazadores. Young they seem to be stronger than most from the Island. At least from the one I just had last night. :-D

My honest suggestion would be to forget about making these kind of comparisons - it's kind of like

trying to compare wines from different areas of the world. There may be similarities, but......

Having said that, I'd agree with Kat's suggestions of Partagas and Bolivar. But in reality, it's

really all subjective.

Perhaps you may want to look at it as embarking on a new journey of discovery - enjoy the trip. :-)

Caesar,

I would start by getting a sampler of cigars put together from Czar. You could have input on the sampler such what sizes you most like, if you like stronger or lighter cigars etc..this is a great way to find what cigar fits your tastes and it is easy on the wallet.

Those are great suggestions. As someone who preferred the Padron Anniversarios before getting into Habanos, I would also call attention to the Hoyo de Monterey Regalos EL. To me, the flavor profile is reminiscent of the 1964's.

Thanks all for the insight. I know the Partagas Serie D are very popular and that seems like a good start. Now I just have to figure out the best way to get that together!

Colt is speaking the truth right here.

Boli and Partagas were a couple of my first tries, great choices in both lines across the price spectrum.

» » Going to start with an assortment. A Bolivar RC, PSD 4 and Lusitania.

» Also mixing in some Cohiba Siglos, a Hoyo DC, an H Upmann Magnum 46 and a

» few others.

Think most would agree you can't go wrong with those sticks.
