Bolivar Simones RR Canada. Looking for a review

Recommended Posts

Would someone kindly do a review for me on the Bolivar Simones. We may be getting a few 50 cabs in but I would like to know what they are like before I commit (PCC owns a % of Canada distribution).

I am heading to Vancouver next week for a few weeks, I will see if the LCDH has any in stock.

I'm interested also. Rob, what might a cab of these run?

No idea mate. Lets wait and see what I am screwed for them ;-) We occasionally get good rare premium stock out of Canada through PCC if it isn't moving. The double handling increases the price. If overly expensive I am happy to keep them for myself.

Thanks Bruce, your recommendation made me pull the trigger.

I was recently in Vancouver and Montreal on Business, and stopped into the LCDH's. I smoked one in Vancouver and I thought it was incredible.

I have put another 3 to rest and will attempt my first review in a few weeks.

I am just a beginner, but I liked this more then the PL Robusto RR. I have tried the Bolivar GM and the RC and this was hands down smoother and I was able to taste both cocoa and spice clearly in the Simones.

I have not been at this long, but it is my favorite smoke to date.

El Prez- I am not sure I can swing 50 right now, because there is so much more I want to try from you, but I am interested if you ever break any down.

Chris

i have a 5'er sitting in my humi, haven't tried one yet. tell ya what, i'll smoke one tomorrow morning and do a small review with plenty of pictures.

i would love to get my hands on a few more, if you do get some in, it would be super sweet if you split a few cabs up so members of FOH could get a few 5'ers as well.

see yall tommorrow with my review..

I have five of these, but have not smoked any because, while the comments I've heard are mostly favorable, young & wet are frequently mentioned. Think I'll let one sit out & smoke it tomorrow or Sunday & report back. If I like it, I'd love to get more, but they are very expensive in Canada. Couldn't afford a cab, but a fiver or 10 pack would be interesting.

» Hermosos No. 4 (48 x 127mm long) and comes in a cab of 50

Smoking one right now.

Cold, the flavor was very enticing and inviting.

This is the second Simones I have had. The first was the day after they were shipped. The cigars were more approachable then. What I am getting right now is a bunch of sharp cedar and even more ammonia. I believe it will come around into a beautiful smoke, but it needs to open up some, which I hope it will.

The shape is nice. The weight and construction are great. Very solid, but not too much resistance to the draw.

I hesitate to rate this smoke.

About $25 each in Canada:surprised: I'll smoke my first later today & post my impressions, but no matter how good if that's still the going rate I'll be content with the ones I already have. A lot of money for a short cigar.

So I smoked one. Wow! Possibly the best RE I've smoked. No ammonia, full flavor, strength, body, but also unfortunately full price. To put in in perspective, the Simone cost more than the Bolivar DC or Cohiba Esplendido.

If you had them at Canadian prices, I'd probably get a couple singles added to an order of something else. If priced lower, I'd certainly buy more. If you can afford these, they are well worth buying.

Yes, the first smoke I had was much more rich and balanced. I did not remember the ammonia in it. For whatever reason, the smoke I had the other day was closed down. It will certainly change. The interesting thing to me is, if I had not had one prior that was much more enticing, I am not sure I would feel this cigar would come around based on the last I had. The differences between the two smokes from the same cabinet a month or two apart is sort of amazing.

A little bird whispered to me that PCC is receiving 100 boxes of these Simones...

No doubt, with high tobacco taxes & 50's cabinet, the price is forbiddingly high !!!

Heard the guy who decided on 50's instead of 25's got 'shot' !:-D

Definitely strong, full Boli favor...meant to be aged. Price should be just a bit lower than those in Canada...
