56Tweed Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 That makes for an expensive afternoon! Good cigars though; and I dig the ashtrays.
anacostiakat Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Dammit! The VR Maestros and the Bolivar DCs look so good to me.
havanaclub7 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 » Dammit! The VR Maestros and the Bolivar DCs look so good to me. Ditto here. I'd give almost anything for some of those Boli DCs, especially!
n2advnture Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 How are those Bolivar DC's? I haven't picked any up yet. BTW - Nice Ritzenhoffs! ~Mark

I haven't picked any up yet. » » BTW - Nice Ritzenhoffs! » » ~Mark If i have to rank '07 ERs, they would look like something in this order: 1) Bolivar DC - typically 'grassy, flowery taste of Bolivar', can image 5years+ would be one of the greats ! 2) PL Robustos - very full favor w/ a hint of 'chocolate' taste. Key is has to choose the 'dark & oily' wrapper because there is big difference in taste! 3) VR Maestros - very fragnant even now... 4) ED 109 - a bit flat now but sure to develop given time. the rest, my impressions are lukwarm ~ of course, i been wrong before...hehe:-P
northo Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Going to be picking myself up some of those Maestros soon. Quick question Fatcigar: is there any particular wrapper colour you'd recommend on these? I usually like smokes with a lighter wrapper, but don't haven't had a single maestro yet so I don't know if this applies. Good looking smokes btw. It's those magnificos that I really want, tho I live in England I just don't think I can justify £20/stick.

In my limited experience, i've found the quality is pretty consistent and almost all wrapper are Colorado...consistent in tastes too ! No Fear !
Colt45 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Great pics! I love the ashtrays as well. I think of the cigars shown, the one I'd be most interested in trying would be the Bolivar.
greenpimp Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Very nice pics. Grassy, flowery Bolivar eh? That just does not sound like the Bolivar I know. I take it you like them, but the profile sounds different from the traditional Bolivar marca as you have described it. Are they lighter/different? How would you compare them with a young BCG?

I did not find it to be a light cigar, but perhaps it was for the Bolivar line. It was still moist, and should have been dry boxed or settled longer in my humidor, but it was very interesting to me. I need some more to make a real impression (and I do not know where to find this snoke), but they were very intriguing.

BDC is definitely lighter than a young BCG. Better construction too...great draw too!

Hmmm...I like the heavier profile of Bolivar, but you make the DC sound very interesting. And DC, the only place I know of that has it in now is a MidEast vendor I no longer use. PM me if you like.

cvm4 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Man I like those ashtrays, where'd you get them? I haven't sampled any recent ERs.

I'm planning on letting mine sit for around another 3 months before torching them. I've been able to locate most of the RE except for ED 109 and Viking. These 2 have just been able to elude me.

PM me if you like. Thanks Pimp! I do not likely need a source. I got some responses in PM's and am dealing with a ME retailer to get these now. They did not say anything about it, but one of the references to the site told me they ship without bands to the US, sending those separate. If anyone knows a retailer who does not do this (with Bolivar DC's) I am interested. It may be strange given the current climate politically, but nothing much coming to the US is opened by those who search for things like embargoed items... I had a package opened recently, which was closed back up and sent on (with bands.) There were 55 smokes and only two were damaged when they used a sharp knife to open the package. I am not saying expect this treatment, it is likely rare, but it was certainly a welcome eventuality!
Fatcigar Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Por Larranaga Robustos -Asia- (50x124)... Vegas Robaina Maestros -Spain- (50x165)... Por Larranaga Magnificos -UK- (50x170)... Bolivar Double Corona -Middle East- (49x194)... Lovely smokes ~~~
