Brian I am a huge fan of these cigars and consider them to be some of the best on the planet. Just ask CIGARHead what he thought of them. He is ruined also. I believe I have smoked two and a half boxes of these and have three more to go.:-D

I agree whole-heartedly. Love them! When they first came out, I was buying them, and smoking them. They were awesome then.

I have some I got more recently I have not tried. I need to check these out again. They had their own signature blend that was cohiba, but also clearly a little different.

Brian, this is just a guess, but I am thinking you will shift the order of excellence down a notch for the four you have tried, once you get around to an Esplendidos. They are excellent in the boxes I have tried. I am sure my top three are Robusto, Esplendido and Piramide since those are more my ring gauge, but I am not sure where I would rate each of those three next to each other right now. I need to check these out again.

I agree with you. This is better than most regular prod, and it is a must to have. What's amazong with these cigars is that after 5 years they show even more strength that 2 or 3 years ago. I'm pretty confident that you can leave them for the next 10 years and it'll even be better! I have had a complete box, and 2 others are sleeping for 2 or 3 years now.:-D

Jimmy,

A few well known places have these in the 625-650 region. Not bad considering where they were a few years ago.

» Where are these still available at a good price someone PM if you have

» info.Thanks

Don

Yes The Reserva Esplendidio will be interesting because I can compare if to a regular Esplendido I have from 2002. Will be very interesting to compare the 2.

Mr. Candido is spot on again the darling is the Espy.

A note to you guys aging these I have a freind that believes the smaller two vitolas are peaking or past prime. I will say that they are on and may not improve a lot more.?? Just some thing to think about.??

That Media Corona is damn good now. It's all I can do not to break my box. Oh, and Mel, I know patience ain't your strong suit so quit trying to make everyone smoke theirs....we don't all have 3 more boxes:cool:

I've been working my way through a box from Jan '03 (which is far inferior to my Dec '02 box). I was very surprised to find that the Esplendido is the best of this box because I expected it to take longer to age than the smaller sticks. Overall, it was quite good, but not a traditional Espy. I'd still take a regular Espy over the '03 Reservas, but my opinion on this may change as the cigars hit the 10 year point.

  • 8 months later...

Never really paid much attention to these, particularly with the decidely mixed reviews these have had in the past. Recently I was offered a box at a blowout price so WTH I took the plunge with somewhat limited expectations particularly as this was an early 2003 box.

I have now had a chance to sample 4 of the 5 sizes..yet to try the Esplendido. I am very impressed with these. In order of enjoyment:

Robusto

Media Corona

Pirimide

Corona Especial

Now with 5 years of box age these are fabulous cigars and easily some of the best Cohibas I have ever tasted. Normally not a fan of the standard CoRo but this CSR Robusto..wow.And the little Media Corona I had last night had amazing flavors for such a small cigar. Definately worth picking up a box FWIW.image5571.jpg
