dysfunctional Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Anyone here smoke Diplomatico's ?? Was gifted a No 3 from 2001 and I was blown away...creamy and taste of Honey...the aroma was like perfume..... very surprised..... must get me some of these smokes
habanohal Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I pick these over the Montes. Have had the 3,4,5 and in a few days need to order a box of the 2s
harwellplant Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 i also usually choose diplomaticos over their complimentary montecristo counterparts. i have had better examples of monte 2's and 4's, but nowhere near the consistency of the dip 2's and 4's. i blew through a number of dips over last weekend.
Mel Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I agree with Harwellplant. I have some three year old Dip#4 that are the best PC's that I own. I have some more recent stock of the #2 that have the loviest dark wrappers but seem to be a sick peroid now. New Motto - Never run out of Dips.
strayvector Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I've only had the chance to try a Dip2 that was from 03 and was underwhelmed. Guess I'm just a little partial to the PSP2 and the VR Unicos.

wasch_24 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I like the Diplomatico line. I won't say more than Montes but they are a nice alternative.
gehrig24 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I have not tried any of the other line but I am a big fan of #2. I agree that it is very consistant and I enjoy the profile. In fact, I should have a box arriving any day from our friend down under.
spsurfin Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I enjoy the the #2 & #3. The problem I have is the SC La Punta is just so much better IMHO that I just do not order the Dip's.
Mel Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I also am a fan of the #2 vitola. I am of the opinion that the Dip is not better than the Monte #2 or Upmann #2 but that one should have them all. As to the BBF, SC La Punta, VRU, R&J, and Sancho Panza they are not Piramides but Campanas. We should have all of them too. I just need the R&J to complete my collection. My PSP2 are flat as all get out. Long winters nap needed.
Loki Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Just got a box of Dip #2. My first impression, good cigar but the youth (05s) does show through. This cigar should get better with age. I've smoked a couple with 3-4 yrs. age and they were great.

On average, I prefer the Dips over Monte's. Too bad they got rid of the #7. I have one sitting in the humi that was gifted, waiting for a special occassion. :-p. Hmmm, Rob, maybe you could convince Habanos to bring back the Dip #7?
argon345 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I've tried the #4's with a bit of age on them. Cant say i was all that impressed but i do plan to go back in for another go-round and see if things have changed...that is once i shake this darn cold:-|
Spud2 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Dip 4's are one of my favorites. Comparable to Monte 4's, but cheaper and ussually a little age.
CIGARHead Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Never smoked any of the Dips. I was thinking of getting those No 4's on the aged cigar list, but someone snagged 'em before I could. Def one for me to try out though.
cf2112 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Dip's are one of my favorites but I don't think any of you will like them, if I were you I'd smoke Montes:-D

I recently picked up a couple and the draw was so smooth. They were a joy to smoke. Plus relatively easy on the bank balance Ross...
Wiley Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 As of yet, I've only had the No.4, but they're awesome. One of my favorite PCs.
Elric Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Nice lineup, a good change of pace brand. The #2s are excellent.
CIGARHead Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I just smoked a No 4. Its only been in the humi 3 days now. It was a beaut of a smoke, very enjoyable. Looks like more of this line is on my horizon.
cybermadhatter Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 The Diplo #2's are sometimes, need I say most of the time, better IMO than the Monte #2's. More honey and less earth. I really like the Diplo 4's and the Diplo 3's. Never had a bad one. THe Monte counterparts I like as well, but have had some flat #4's. » I just smoked a No 4. Its only been in the humi 3 days now. herfkid Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Looks like I need to try me some Diplomaticos one of these days. I'll bump some into the sampler I'm (sloowwwwlllyyyy) putting together.
harwellplant Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 let me say that the dip4s i ordered from rob several weeks ago are spot on. they also have the controlado stamp on the bottom from 05, with an original box date of either 02, i believe (i am at the office now, box is at home). great taste. had one last night.
