CIGARHead Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I like that Colt45. I have an obsession with the Tommy Bahama Ashtrays. I love the artwork on them and mainly use those. Where did you get that one?
Professor Twain Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I need to get my camera out. Mrs. Twain has been hunting me some nice antiques.' Hope to get some shots up this weekend.

I ended up getting this one from a shop in my area. PT, look forward to the pics.
jkorp Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Has anyone seen these for sale besides Davidoff for $100. [link=http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA_Features/CA_Feature_Basic_Template/0,2344,9,00.html]Mollino Oneoff Portable Ashtray[/link] They look incredible. An auction site had a lot of 5 go for $20 a piece back in Sept and I haven't seen them around anywhere else since then.

jadawin Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Got this very nice Tatuaje ashtray from my girlfriend for xmas This thing is huge!
Professor Twain Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 OK, I finally got my photos up on Photobucket. Here is my collection of vintage ash trays. The first was a gift from Mrs. Twain, she found it in a local thrift shop. It is a Mack Truck item, these must have been given away by salesmen, I imagine. Shown with an 06 Cohiba Piramide, a generous gift from a Board member, review to follow. the next one is also a find by Mrs. Twain. It is marked as "sterling on bronze". The sterling figures are a bit worn but look like two dogs playing tug of war. shown with a Dip 4 for scale. Here is one, silver plated, that I got on Ebay, again shown with a Dip 4. THis is a little bird with a wishbone. Another Ebay find. This one is of special interest, it was made in Florida by Royal Hickman. I believe it is from the 1950s. The turquoise color has an interesting shine to it that does not show up well in the photo. This has become my day to day ashtray, I can leave it outside and it does not tarnish, and it holds a lot of ash. Finally here is another Mrs. Twain find, it has an Egyptian theme. There are a lot of antique/vintage ash trays on Ebay. I have bid on some beautiful sterling silver ones but they have all gone over my price range. It is fun to pull different ashtrays out depending on what I am smoking, my mood, and how many people are joining me.
Colt45 Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 » Nice pic's guy's. Yes, thanks for posting. PT, you have some unique items - I especially like the Hickman - it's huge!
Mel Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Wow those are some nice trays. Rob sent me a garish Trinidad POS one year and it does the bulk of the work. The reason I call it garish is that is what he wrote on the bottom of it. It say's "we finally found a garish ashtray that fits your personailty". Thanks wanker king.;-) My favorite tray at the cabin is a half of a fresh water mussell. Unique but fitting of the outdoor experience.

I got it from a B&M in Boston when Oneoff was still big here, and haven't really used it at all. As for ashtrays, I really like the LCDH one, but it's too pretty to put ash in it. Most of the time I use the CAO cubist or a Large Casa Fuente if I've got people over.

I use mine only occasionally, but you would never know it from looking at it. I have the cubist one as well as a large Padron one my wife gave me a few years ago for our wedding anniversary. the Padron one is my primary ashtray though I haven't smoked a Padron in 2+ years. ;-)

The one I use is the Smokey Herf cooking bowl ashtray with 6 cigar stirrups. It is the only really "practical" cigar ashtray I have.

physiognomy Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 » There have been pics of some very nice ashtrays in recent (and past) » reviews - any faves? I had been using terracotta saucers until I picked this up... Much nicer when I have company over.
Acceptance449 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I'll try to get a shot up of mine when I get the digital camera back from the wife. I made mine with a block of wood, dremel, and a carving knife.
