Ken Pappy Van Winkle is the Holy Grail of bourbon. Its produced by Buffalo Trace distilleries. Its available in 12, 15, 20, and 23 year old versions. I've tried the 12 and 20 and found them to be incredible. Your mate may also want to try George T Stagg. The 07 production is a 144.8 proof. Here's a link http://www.bourbonwhiskey.com/ My liquor store has a bottle of the Pappys 23 yr. and its priced cheap at $190 usd. I've seen it for $250.

Yes, I understand - you are search functionally challenged. Can any of our Aussie or U.K. friends tell me if my using the term "git" would be proper usage in this instance?

The twenty year is the one I buy and like. It is excellent! The 23 year is normally too much for bourbon in my opinion no matter how good it is. Although that is a magnificent deal quoted above. The younger releases I dont care as much for.

Sandman Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The 20 year is the way to go. Very, very good bourbon.
Claudius Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 » Claudius should be chiming in :-D Haha, you remember I got a bottle... Thing is, when I initially tried it, I had sinusitis and could taste some but not that much. Was good but seemed younger than 20 yo. Now the sinusitis is almost gone, so I tried it again. Tasted bad, bitter. So I tried my favorite rum, Zacapa Straight from the Cask 90 proof. Tasted like crap as well. Then I remembered I had a salad with garlic and gyoza for dinner. That makes everything taste like crap, I suppose. It's very important not to eat too light and with garlic or a dessert (sugar) or it will make straight short drinks taste like ****. Will report back as soon as I eat normal food again :-D
