A few days ago, CIGARHead posted a thread "I want to try something ". He offered to send a newbie to the site some Habanos with two requirements: One was to post a review and two, to pass the sentiment forward. I was lucky enough to be one of the recipients of his offer and received these two very nice sticks today.

I decided to start out with the Por Larranaga Petit Corona mainly because it was slightly shorter and well, it's snowing out right now! :-P

The construction was very good with few veins and had only a slight give when pressed between my fingers. I couldn't detect any hard spots indicating a possible hard draw or plug.

The head was topped with the typical 3 caps and only a slight bit of tooth.

Looking at the foot you could see different shades to the leaves used. Most being a dark golden brown, however a small section significantly different in color.

I grabbed my favorite Swiss Army and went to work.

I actually got slightly offcenter on the punch, however close enough! :-D I grabbed my leather coat and stepped outside with my Z-Plus Zippo and a small slither of cedar. Once the foot was nice and toasted, I put fire to it. The cedar really helps bring in the flavors when lighting.

Unfortunately I'm not all that great at giving an in depth, detailed description of all the nuances of flavors and aromas, at least not yet. I can say that the first draw was smooth with tasting of sweet cocoa and leather, a hint of cedar. A bit of spice, some light pepper, tickled my nose as I let the smoke roll out my nostrils. A very well balance between flavors to say the least.

The same flavors stayed basically consistent for approximately a little over half the cigar, however once a little over half-way, the spiciness all but subsided and a more pronounced earth and wood taste came through. A bit more power came through as well. Yet still a delicious cigar!

I'd almost say this was still a young PLPC, yet the band suggests otherwise as it looks to have some age on it.

CIGARHead, do you have the age on these sticks? I'd like to say thanks so much for your generosity. I very much appreciate it and will definitely meet the second requirement before long. I've laid the Boli in the humi and will post a review of it as well when I fire it up. Thanks again brother!!

Great review! Makes me want to reach in the humidor now for one ,but I'm battling the flu and it would be pointless. Nice pictures as well.

Damn Greg...nice review man! Glad you liked it. That PL is from '04. Don't let the band fool ya, those Por Larranaga PC bands are always a bit funky.

You are spot on in saying it still has a little youth in it. Even at 3 yrs, it will benefit from another 3 yrs. It has such a mix of hearty, spicy, sweet all in a medium/full body.

I'd give the Bolivar a week or so to adjust from the travel..although it was a short transit.

Great pics by the way mate!

Really nice review.

Fabulous pics and review. It makes me want to pull one out of the cab, but it's colder than a brass bra around here today. Maybe I can tough it out tomorrow.
