I am talking to Bob about this cabinet. I know many of you have them and love em! Any helpful insight would be appreciated. For example must have options etc. My current one is full and Rob runs too many specials. Need more space

I have the Aristocrat MxT 26.5 and love it. If possible, go Temp and Humidity controled. Raised panel doors is a nice touch...oh and get something different than those brass knobs! I got some brushed nickle handles that really go well with it. Also, I got dark red mahogany.

Heres a few pics of when I first got her...will be ordering a bigger one soon:

If you can build a walk-in, do it. If not, get the biggest cabinet they make. If you dont, you'll spend time and money on getting a bigger one later on...

I do. I also have the largest cabinet they make (well, it's actually larger than any cabinet they make, and was made into a cigar cabinet) as I trusted BOTLs advice to get the biggest cabinet I could get. The thing is, that's too small as well.

I dont have any pics because I didnt take any. That's because although the A/C and humidification are in there and working fine, it's not much of a sight with an el cheapo shelf from the DIY store to hold me over while I investigate options. My favorite (but not the cheapest) is to get a carpenter to make custom shelving for the back wall. Probably time to get a quote.

No doubt about it..My MxT was supposed to last awhile...now I will be either getting another or I will be doing the walk in. Definitely the walk in if I could ever sell my house and start building my new one!!

What kind of A/C and humidification do you have in your walk-in?

Luckily my cabinet and the endtable unit from Bob have served me well so far. . .

Bob makes beautiful pieces.

If you build the house from scratch, you should be able to ideally locate and size (decide on an adequate size, then double it and use that) the walk-in in the house. That's awesome! :-D

» What kind of A/C and humidification do you have in your walk-in?

Mitsubishi 3.5 kW unit. Keeps the room at 60°F / 15°C all year long, even last summer when it was 90°F outside. The unit has a system (forgot what it's called) that blows cooled air almost continuously in various quantities and temps so as to keep the same temp in the room. In other, simpler units, the compressor only kicks in when the temp has risen 3 or 4 degrees, resulting in small but not insignificant temp variations.

Humidification is a large AxAir humidifier (holds 30 l) coupled to a German electronic control unit with a super duper mega precise RH sensor that switches the humidifier on and off as needed. The almost empty room (20 sqyd) has a total RH differential of approx. 3% (lowest I see is 63.9% and highest 66.7%). Temp variation is 0.5°C, sthg like 1°F.

The A/C is the hidden ceiling mounting type that routes the air through tubes to ceiling outlets, except mine is not hidden: I have one tube going to the humidifier (so that the cold air is already humidified and RH swings stay small) and the other tube blowing straight into the room where the wine bottles are. Technically, I'm happy with it, but I have to do something about the aesthetics! Need shelves and to hide that A/C.

Wow, Claudius....sounds great. The A/C unit sounds like what I want. I like how one duct is routed to the humidifier so its cooled as well. Thanks for sharing:ok:

» Cigar head that is a beautiful piece. Are you getting rid of it or just

» getting another one? I am in the market for one if you are.

No, Im going to keep this. It's such a beautiful piece, I'll have it in the family to pass down.

I do have an Avallo 1200 Deluxe cabinet humidor that I'd sell. It holds around 30 - 35 boxes. It has 2 slide out shelves, slide out singles drawer and the digital Accumonitor.

Hey cigarhead, If the humidor has temperature control, I would purchase and with rest of my budget, I gather cigars!

Sounds fantastic Claudius. Claudius is referring to an Airconditioner with an "Inverter" system.

An Inverter has a more advanced technology that operates differently. It works like the accelerator of a car, gently increasing or decreasing power. It reaches the desired temperature quicker and steadily maintains it without wild fluctuations. That means better control and significant savings on running costs.
