hoyopr Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I've had five from this box which have all been great, but the one this afternoon was exceptional. I had to share this. The construction was good with an excellent draw, smooth wrapper and an even burn with a firm white ash. The flavor is what really grabbed my attention, three words - Sweet - Creamy - Spice. It started with some very pronouced pepper but quickly showed more sweetness then I have ever experienced, this with the rich spicyness that continued for just over an hour. In the second third it developed some carmel along with the spice and it all started to increase in strength through to the end. My thought as I put it down was "This is like a dessert". Of the other Diplomaticos I've tried, No.2 & No.5, both of which are on my "Buy List", this will be on my "Never Without List" for as long as I can find them (recently discontinued).
El Presidente Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Bloody great cigars and review The Dip 3 will be missed as it was a corona with a definitive style. Up there with the Boli Corona and Partagas Corona.

shrink Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I don't know why the 2006 Dip #3 has been overlooked by so many. I suspect the reason is more historical... it has never had a big following. But this corona is going out with a BANG, right at the top of its game. The early 2006's are very, very good now, but are starting to get richer, sweeter, and more complex with every passing month. I'm not sure I'd call 'em my favorite corona, but they're definitely in the running. Thanks for the review.
smokum Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 These are great cigars. How the hell does anyone actually pick a favorite cigar ?
greenpimp Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I absolutely love my FEB06 box of these. First class tobacco, excellent blend and construction.
trumpetchris Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Aw man! Discontinued? I just checked my sources and they're not there! I love the 2s and 4s. How does one search for a discontinued cigar?
smokum Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 So glad I got mine when I did. But now this causes me to slow down on grabbing one. Only a box and a half left. Rob were they good sellers ?
hoyopr Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 » don't forget the sancho. :-D » » bruce Bruce I've never tried any of the Sancho Panza line but have read some positive reviews. I find a lot of Boli and Partagas in my humidor but am fairly new to collecting and wouldn't mind your's and anyone elses thoughts on other coronas as this is one of the sizes I prefer along with the dalia.
smokum Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Vegas Robaina Familiar is a very good cigar IMO.
