nugget Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 If I'm not mistaken, a new band I see. I absoluly love this cigar, one of my very favourates. Very on par with the Cohiba Eslendidos in my veiw. I have a box of TDV SEPT 03 and they are sensational!!

COJ Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Somewhat surpricing with such a possitive review of a fresh H.Upmann. H.Upmanns use to be tannic and having a raw tobacco taste when fresh and usually needs ageing to become smokable.
shrink Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 What a delightful review! Next best thing to being there. It is so encouraging to read of a Sir Winston being this approachable, this young. Everybody 'knows' that the SW needs 5-10 years to mature, right? Well, the use of aged tobaccos is really changing the name of the game. I can't wait to sample some of these 'baby' Sir Winstons, and I hear that the '07 Punch SS#1's are great, too. You must be celebrating, Rob! The new cars are on the lot, and they're selling like hot cakes!
strayvector Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I just received a shipment of these from the czar crew a few days ago and these are the most beautiful looking sticks I have seen in a very long time. Also, the smell is intoxicating. I can't wait to fire one up.

I was pleasantly suprised. Some of the old rules appear to have gone out the window. This was the most approachable young Upmann I have ever had.
Loki Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Great review. I adore this cigar. I must try the 07s.
Sandman Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I am smoking one from april 07 and your review is absolutely spot on with the one i'm smoking. Hints of greatness abound. I cannot believe how creamy this thing is. Definitely youthful but what a smoke!
Mr.T Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Excellent Review as usual...and the pictures are fantastic. I have a request..I would be interested to see how the 07 SW compare to the 07 Monarchs. The reason I ask is because I just received an '07 box of Monarch Tubos from Lisa and they look stunning; they are some of the best looking cigars I have seen. Smell at cold is a typical barnyard aroma and what can only be described as a cigar being dipped in expresso/black coffee; amazing! I promise to post a review when I get around to smoking one, but I would be interested to hear what you think of 07 Monarchs. Thanks, Andreas.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Upmann Sir Winston OCE March 2007 I was compelled by the reviews of the 00 and 03 Sir Winstons to reach out and select a 2007 Sir Winston Beautiful cigar. Rich Colorado maduro in colour. Perfect to the touch equal part silk and leaf. Aroma at cold barnyard, tobacco and sweetened cream. Cerrated the cap. Perfect draw leaving cream and toasted tobacco on the lips. Somedays you just know a cigar is going to be good. Fired up the foot, let it settle down and took my first serious draws....white pepper abounds...medium full body...rich tobacco. The cigar reminds me of a rodeo horse kicking in the stall just wanting to be released. Within a few minutes release it does and it is a wild but controlled ride. The Winnie starts by playing its white pepper card and through the nose it is a pungeant hit. The full effects of the pepper do not translate to the palate which is medium full and a nice mix of white pepper, toasted tobacco and cream. While a little rambunctious it has a calling card of class which is typified by a silky smooth underlay. The wilder parts of the performance dance around the periphery. The second third of the Sir Winston is more structured...more balanced. The white pepper is still present through the nose but the palate is revealing more cream, coffee (for the first time) and a hint of honey. Body is now a shade over medium. Some dried fruits showing up in glimpses but as you try to focus on them they dive away. Loving the cream and coffee. The honey is not overly sweet more like honeycomb. Into the last third and the balance continues..at least initially. The core flavours remain the same as does the medium body. Perhaps a hint of almonds accompanying the cream, coffee and honeycomb. For the first time elements of youth are casting a shadow. A touch of bitterness and heat. I purge the cigar and slow right down. It responds well but every passing 5 minutes shows an astingency creeping up to first take out the sweetness and then the cream. The cigar finishes well on a full bodied toasted tobacco and black coffee note. An excellent cigar. Fuller in body than the 00 and 03 (IMHO) but still having all the hallmarks of the Sir Winston line. There are 22 remaining from this box of which I will keep for myself. If you can, try a few singles and I am sure you will be impressed. 91/100 5/6 smokerings.
Tom Bolivar Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 » I can not help it but shots like the above are a tad too porno-ish for me. Just thought I say that here once. Excellent review (like always)! Excellent cigar! But it really seems that the old rules have be thrown over board. Are we facing the point where some books have to be re-written?
Bartolomeo Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 H Upmann Sir Winston OSE MAY 07 Bought a fiver from a generous member here to sample This has been my first ever Churchill Dark chocalate wrapper, slick and minimal veins, construction was almost perfect.......Imagine a cigar dressed in a tuxedo ready to go pick up some broads Flavors included cream, toffee, tannins, citris early on and white pepper........very complex Draw was a major issue here and hurt the cigars performance IMHO......Draws better=tastes/smokes better Initial puff was sweet toast(shortbread) Smoke time was 90 mins Probably a great smoke on the golf course The 2/3 was a little better in draw but not much, flavors were strongest in 1/3 and 2/3 with last 1/3 dwindling a little bit I will look to find some other SW singles to try and let the remaining ones I have rest for a while to see if that helps with draw 8.9/10 Bart
