rob asked me to review this cigar so i decided i'd light one up tonight, but i will warn you. i am not the best cigar reviewer, but i will do my best.

the draw on this one is a bit firm. others from this same 5X5 box have been as well while some have also had a perfect draw to them. the wrappers on this particular cigar seem to be very thin and delicate with some tiny hints of green spots on them (others from this box have not been so). definitely not a wrapper leaf that would ever be destined to be on a cohiba, monte or RyJ.

the flavors of this small cigar are much inline with the rest of the vegueros: herbal, grassy and at times a bit salty (mostly the #2's though). there are slight hints of pepper, like rob stated, but to me they are always overpowered by the herbal taste.

at about the one inch mark there are more sweet, cream like flavors coming through, but not in too much abundance. at this point i am also having trouble with the wrapper coming off because when i tore the band off it pulled off some of the wrapper and it's very annoying right now. it seems with every puff on this cigar the flavors don't change to much. they change places though. meaning at some points the sweetness is in abundance with the pepper, salty and herbal flavors underlying it and vice versa. this is definitely not a complex cigar and not one in which the flavors change dramatically over the course of it. none the less i really like this cigar.

the flavors definitely kicked up a notch or two in the final third of this cigar as did the strength. the black pepper flavors are definitely on top and mixing well with the grassy flavors. i really don't understand why no one likes this line that much, but hey.........more for me i guess. :-D

to me this is a good clean refreshing medium strength cigar. definitely a first cigar of the day, but it also is not too mild so as not to go good with coffee. i'm actually having espresso with mine right now. i know these cigars fly under most everyone's radar (i believe this is because hardly any vender carries the whole line). for some this might be lunacy, but to me the VEG line is the poor man's cohiba.

Bloody good review Bruce.....thanks for doing that :ok:

I think you have to be a herbacious lover to really enjoy this cigar as you have pointed out. I am glad you enjoy them :-)

» Bruce,

» Where did you get the Bolivar ashtray? That's gorgeous!

JR's. they gave it away with a box purchase months back so i ordered the cheapest box that would get me the ashtray. i then sold the box on a cigar board, so that the ashtray ended up costing me only $10. :-D

rob, i agree. if someone doesn't like herbal and grassy flavors in their cigars then they won't like these at all. speaking of grassy, i think i'll go light up a cuaba divino now. :-D those are always perfect for a 3am smoke.
