Colt45 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks for the overview and pics. I've had cigars blended with tobacco from Peru, but never a Peruvian puro. I'll take your recommendation. :-)

habanablue Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Got a sample of these at the RTDA, very interesting story, but have not tried any yet, thanks for the intro.
El Presidente Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Taino....we have relieved you of the responsibility for organising the cigars for February's Chilean fishing trip ;-)
bassman Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 When I was in Peru in 97, the only leaves I had were coca. Spent 4 days between 12-15,000 feet altitude & they were great for combating cold & altitude. I did smoke some local cigars in Guatemala. Some of the worst ever.

Bassman, Chewing on Coca leaves? Hopefully you didn't have to take any drug tests after your trip LOL!

Taino Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 ...damn!... I guess nextone in charge is you Rob... I'm not really picky, I´ll smoke almost anything from Habanos with at least 3 years of age, just remember I smoke 3-4 cigars a day;-)
Taino Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Tobacco is supposed to have it's genetic origin in the mountains between what today is Peru and Bolivia, therefore I was always curious to try some Bolivian or Peruvian cigars in order to taste more less how tobacco should have tasted originally. To make a long story short: I'm going to stay with my CC. I tried several Peruvian brands, some smokable, some crap, some I left in my humidor for 3 to 4 years keeping some faith. By far the best brands are the ones made by Tabacalera del Oriente (San Martin), well made but I feel that bitter taste that almost all NC give me. The chicos were the more smokable of all. A couple of pictures:
