Colt45
No codes, but I assume recent production - '04 or '05. Construction: Nicely constructed, firm, though slightly bumpy. Wrapper: Light caramel in color, with just a hint of sheen. Draw: Great draw with plenty of smoke. Taste: Hardly any. Notes of air with the slightest hint of tobacco. I've tried two this week and they were both the same. I'm really hoping these are just shut down - I have a few more that I'll leave for some time. But they really didn't seem like they had the backbone to gain anything with time. We'll see. Impossible to give a score.
CIGARHead
Colt45 Man thats too bad. These are in my top 5 most enjoyable smokes. Dont give up on them bro, they could be in the sick period that D4s inevitably go through. I have yet to have one that wasnt satisfying, they are usually very rich and full bodied. I'd let the rest you have take a nap. It may be a good idea to buy a very recent box or some singles that you know the box date of. If they were boxed no more than 6-8 months ago they should be fantastic. Lovely young smoke!
DocRKS
» No codes, but I assume recent production - '04 or '05. » Put them away for a long nap --patience really is a virtue and you will be rewarded ---these are a delicious cigar when they are on....give your purchase time to develop and realize its potential. I took them all out of the paper boxes and put them in the humi. They came around after a few months.
Colt45
Thanks for the input guys. I figured they were down, especially since this one is such an icon. I'll leave alone what I have left, and probably get more - to leave alone! It is a bit of a dilemna - trying to figure out what you like and dislike, but not getting a true picture because of where the cigars are at in their development. And to make things just a little more difficult, some of us can't just go down to the local and pick up a couple of these, and a few of those! Curmudgeon
It sounds like yours are indeed temporarily off. That said, I've had D4s as young as two months and as old as 10 years, and I've never been excited about them.

Smokin_Safari
Colt, just take care to seperate them from your milder smokes in your humidor because as they develop, they may take some more out in sympathy. Whilst I love a D4, they should be kept on their own.
thschrminm
The PSD4's are the type of cigar that if you dont catch them early to smoke them fresh, they can definitely enter their sick period fairly quickly and then they do take a while to comeback... I agree with Waldo. The 5x3 packs need some time to come around. Also, I've found that if you don't catch them with a few months of the box date, you might as well just stuff them for a year or so. josie67
I must say that these are one of my LEAST favorite cigars. I have tried them young and with 5+ years of age, and this brand, in any format, just doesn't do anything for me. :-(
mgillett
I am tending to agree. I have very limited experience with Partagas and maybe being hasty but the PSD4 was too powerful for me and the Party Short that I had the other night drew loosely and kept going out. Will give them one more chance...

cigardawg
This is my "go-to" robusto. Never had one that didn't come through with tons of flavor. Sock them away for a later time. You will be rewarded.
FatDaddy
The PSD4 and RASS are my 2 top robusto's! Love the PSD4. Anyone tried the special edition PSD4. (not sure what is is really called)
