cls515
Nice review. I really don't know what to make of this cigar...except I like it alot. I'm with you on the corona gordas, those and the coronas/petit coronas are my favorite sized cigar, corona gorda being favorite. Love this cigar. shrink
Thanks for the review, and the photos. Although I have a box of these sleeping, I haven't tried any, not even a sample. The reviews I've read are mixed, with some reviewers describing a very strong, peppery cigar that will need a few years to be smokeable. Others say it is good to go. Different smokers, or different cigars? I'm not in any hurry; I think I'll wait. With few exceptions, such as the Hoymids and RyJ Hermosos #2, I find that EL's need at least three to five years, or more, to show at their best. At least this model appears to have a classic Partagas flavor profile; too many EL's seem to fall too far from the tree.
rafa
Thanks, beautiful cigar and review. I would like to ask you, have you buy them in Spain?

The Wise Old owl
» Thanks, beautiful cigar and review. I would like to ask you, have you buy » them in Spain? Yes, they did come from Spain. when I first got them and had to try one, the flavor characteristics were confused and all over the place. A few months has done much to settle these down, making them much more enjoyable. I don't think the wrapper has had as much of an effect on these as it has some other ELs. This cigar is more Partagas than EL. That's really why I think they may show dramatic impovement still, within the next few years!

Sure.I bought a box of SuperPartagas in September (cheap line of Partagas) and they have been improved a lot in few months. I imagine that your gems will do it better. I only ask for the origin box because the antismoking sticker in your box is from Spanish government. Only curiosity. Thanks for your answer. The Wise Old owl
Please bear with me, as this is my first review... I know I am not as eloquent as some of the posters here, whose reviews I really enjoy. I acquired two boxes of these about 4 months ago, they have been maintained at 64% humidity and 70 degrees Fht. I clipped the foot and found an easy draw with the slightest resistance, a good start! [i Initial flavors are exactly what one would expect from Partagas, earth and leather with a barely perceptible sweetness... Your standard Maxwell house java seemed a fitting compliment ( could have been improved with some Kahlua or Frangelica) This smoke burned perfectly, requiring no touch ups. I think I've had about 5 others from this box, and all were excellent examples, flawless contruction. The only perceptible change in flavor as I moved from the 2nd to the final third was a minty characteristic, the flavors were clean and seemed true to the Partagas style, not so much the typical EL overtones found in some of the other ELS Iv'e had recently. I can say that I certainly enjoyed every inch of this smoke, and went to the nub until my fingers were in danger... maybe next time I'll try the toothpick trick... The box and codes follow... Let me add that the Corona Gorda is rapidly becoming my favorite size, All I've tried delivered cool smoke and seemed to have all the best qualities one could hope for in a good cigar. I expect after 3 to 5 years these should really come into thier own, If I don't smoke 'em all before then! I give this cigar 90 points and will not be at all suprised if they receive higher marks later on.
