MCS NOV05

1.jpg

I've been slowly smoking my way through this box over the last year, never being overwhelmed by them but definately enjoying thier no-nonsense flavor profile and the massive amounts of cool smoke they produce.

This particular example was typical of the whole box, featuring a dark brown, slightly lumpy apperance. Clipping the cap, pre-light draw was all tobacco and pepper in the nose.

Firing it up, and was rewarded with tons of thick dark smoke. I let it sit for a moment to find it's stride. First impressions were earthy and clove, mostly felt through the nose, with a slight touch of sweetness. The ash was a very flaky dark gray that wanted to fall off without the slightest provocation.

3.jpg

Second half settled into a vegetal earthy taste, with undertones of dark bitter chocolate and coffee... nice. Drawing and burn remained perfect, huge volumes of smoke with every puff.

4.jpg

Overall, I enjoy these. Not a lot of WOW factor to them, but a nice consistant smoke that will always have a spot in my humi.

Thanks for reading! ;-)

Great photos. Shame the cigar did not come out the same.

Thanks for calling attention to this excellent cigar. The quality of the tobacco used in all VR's is first rate. IMO, this is a stick that needs several years to fully express itself. When young, it can be peppery but the underlying spices are usually bland. I've had everything from '97's to '06s, and I still have some '03s that are at their peak. When it matures, it is a wonderfully medium-bodied cigar, with straightforward tobacco flavors and just the right amount of spice.

Excellent pix, by the way. The wrapper looks oily in these shots, but I know that sometimes the flash gives that impression.
