asmith Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Romeo y Juliet – Cazadores – AEP MAR 06 When I last reviewed this cigar at the end of last year is was a sour affair of dried grass and burnt rubbish. However Rob insisted that we review them again as the box looked suburb. Wrapper – A beautiful looking cigar with a dark maduro wrapper leaf and if its possible a little too much oil in the wrapper. At the cut smooth flavours of rich Columbian coffee on the lips with a dark chocolate flavour. 1/3 Wow what a difference a couple of months can make to a cigar. The first couple of draws produce immense amounts of white smoke with front palette notes of citrus and cream. For a cigar that I was not keen to re-taste this has really changed my view. There is none of dirt and greenness that was in the pervious review. 2/3 Moving away from the citrus and into a more toasted barrel flavour with white pepper through the nose. A medium to full body cigar that is felling great in the hand. The intense smoke flavours are complimented well with the full body Shiraz that we were consuming. 3/3 Although the first two thirds were great the final third got a little messing and bitter. A lot of tar build up on the end, which is a clear result from that oil in the wrapper mentioned earlier. Still intense coffee and pepper flavours. As you can see from the photos Rob and I drag this cigar out into the early evening. Overall a great addition to anyone’s humidor and a real turn around from the pervious review. Smokes well with the good Shiraz or on a turkey shoot which ever is your preferred vice. 89/100 Smith Scale 9.5/13 Rob will add the photos
shrink Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Good to hear that you were surprised by this one, Smithy. I was also surprised in early 2006, when I sampled from a box of DEC05, and found that I could actually smoke and enjoy them this young. I had previously had examples from '01 and '03 that were still, shall we say, a little young? I got a couple extra boxes to age, and am still working on the original box. They are better than ever, but I've got to be in the mood for something full-bodied and peppery. What a classic! Simply nothing like 'em.
