Gorgeous...sultry, sexy, trouble with a capital "T"

Oh, you mean the cigar! I love these, and 2006 brings us another classic.

First off, thanks for another fine review. This is a cigar which seems to be held in

high regard by many members. I recently tried my first and posted a few comments.

As I often do after posting my thoughts on a cigar, I go back and see what others

have posted. In November '06, you and Andrew reviewed this cigar with the same

codes, and in a nutshell, found it to be "good but not great":

» Robs Comments

» This is certainly not the finest example of the BOCE I have tried. Smithy is right in that it lost all direction at the 1/3 point and failed to recover until the last third. However, to its credit it recovered very well and the finish was memorable.

» Definately one to reasses early next year to see if the mid section has developed into a definitive profile.

» 87/100 4 smokerings.

What are your thoughts as to the change? Simply a little more humidor time? A

different box? Blend inconsistency? A little bit of all of the above?

I'm not trying to be contentious by any means, but am trying to gather information,

as usual. Thanks again.

I have a few April 05's , and for some reason, they just don't seem ready yet :-|

The core flavours of this review were found in the NOV 06 review. Different boxes, a better draw this time around, 6 months more age and an oilier cigar.

This cigar was pure decadence. To pinpoint a difference.....I would say blend consistency would have more to do with the difference than anything else. Esentially, this was a higher quality cigar out of the box.

» Thanks for the review Rob !

That was a shameless plugg mate. What are you trying to do sell all my favorite cigars? I love the CE and will never let the humi run dry of them. For some reason they draw well as a rule.

Prez, I've always found these reviews to be very entertaining, but I have to admit that I was mildly skeptical that fresh cigars could produce such promising results as you have written about over the last year. I happend upon this one and you really put me over the edge. After letting the box sit for a couple weeks, I pulled the first one out tonight. Mine looked just as dark and sultry as the one in the pictures. I have to say, that I found your tasting notes to be nearly spot on! Delicious! I found a little more earthiness than you described, but all together an excellent review. Keep em coming!

Just call them as I see them ;-)

Loved the review Rob, I'm a big fan of this cigar!

Better not misplace the box in my humidor.:-P

Excellent discussion of this stick. I'm sitting on a box that's been resting for a couple months, exact same code. One will go with me on vacation this week and now I'm wondering whether I can wait until I arrive at my destination!

I am a lover of the Bolivar Corona Extra. Traditionally I have purchased cabs of 50 but today I have sampled an example from a dress box of 25 from POS ABR 06.

The minute I opened the box I thought of of those dusky Central American beauties that ken hangs out with. Gorgeous...sultry, sexy, trouble with a capital "T" ( ....I am talking about the cigar albeit the description is interchangeable ;-) ).

I mean....just look at this.

image2705.jpg

The aroma at cold of this cigar is exactly how it looks....dusky, dank, oil, tobacco, leather. Construction is exemplary.

Cerrated the cap and found a perfect Cuban draw. On the lips was pepper and fresh roasted dark coffee beans...slightly burn't.

I torched the foot and was met with full bodied pepper spice, BBQ and a core of unsweetened prunes. The type of start that has you blessing the Lord and wondering out loud why every cigar could not be so definitive. This cigar is making a statement "I am Bolivar Corona Extra" love me or hate me but I will make my mark.

Stewed fruit/ Christmas cake is one of my all time favourite flavours in a cigar. This BCE has it in spades. Decadent, lush, viscous in the mouth, the smoke almost blue and heavy so that it falls before it rises. You could cut the smoke with a knife. Heaven on earth.

image2706.jpg

Through the halfway point the BCE evolves into fuller, deeper and darker flavours of charred barrels, burn't pumpkin and old world leather. There is so much development left in this cigar. I can only imagine how these cigars will evolve with a little time. While immensely enjoyable there is a feeling that you are watching the shorts to a great movie. You are seeing the highlights but you look forward to all the subplots developing in full.

image2707.jpg

I have enjoyed this cigar on so many levels. Aesthetically arousing, dense and complex on the palate, an aroma that has you thinking back to all those great cigars you have enjoyed over the years.

This is a decadent cigar and at its best one of the finest Cuba produces. One of my top three cigar experiences of 2007.

92/100 5/ Smokerings.
