tandblov Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hey Pres, I was just wondering when these started coming with bands?
olotti Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I cherish these cigars and time after time they just reiterate to me that they are my favorite robusto, however they looked so much better without that ugly ass band.
Freefallguy Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 » or so. I need to find a way to keep the office bar fridge emptying.... I'm sure Lise can help with that. Excellent review!
Miami101 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 El Prez This is one of my top cigars thanks to you....My brother also loves this cigar....and my best friend Carlo also love these cigars.... Thanks for the info...
El Presidente Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 » I think after June 06.... June 06 is correct Jimmy :-)
jadawin Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Ive only had one of the no.2s, but ive smoked through a box of the no.1s. I love the JL line, they dont excel in any particular area IMO, just an all around great go to cigar. Great construction, never had a bad draw or bad burn.

cls515 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I admit I've only sampled this cigar, I've never owned a box so take my impression how you want to... But I can't get into this cigar.....Kind of middle of the road for me....it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say good....kind of ehhh to me.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 I was in a reflective mood yesterday as I wrestled with the best way to tell Lisa that I am going to be away most of September. If I said nothing and simply did not turn up, I am guessing she would miss me after a week or so. I need to find a way to keep the office bar fridge emptying....that should buy me maybe two weeks. E-mails, posts on the forum and telephone correspondence is easy as I can do that from the Rugby World Cup in France. I could say that I am in Cuba at the behest of HSA. Little chance she will phone my wife. Yes...my wife?.....that is another plan enitrely..........+ who do I fear more So, caught in the horns of a dilemma I reached for a Juan Lopez Seleccion No 2. My plan needed subtlety and guile....something the JLS2 has always had in spades and I lack in equal amounts. Plain looking Robusto. Nothing outstanding. In fact....it felt a touch loose and the looseness of the foot concerned me. Smell at cold was weak milk coffee. Jan/Feb examples of JLS2 were powerhouses. They were some of the finest young cigars I have ever tasted but they were not in any way reflective of what JLS2 should be. They are still not as I revisited a Jan 06 one last week. Mellowing nicely...but still full bodied. This Sep 06 example, visually, reminded me little of the Jan 06. Lack of oil in the wrapper, looser draw. No pungency in the aroma at cold. Cerrated the cap and the draw was indeed a tad loose. I could live with it. Milk coffee and vanilla bean on the lips. Torched the foot and immediately I was in a world of floral aromas and light milk coffee, white chocolate flavours. Still white spice through the nose. Light to medium bodied but seleccion no 2 toyed and teased the palate and nasal senes. Lilting....lofting....a slight increase in intensity here.....and introduction of raisins there....magnificence. By the halfway point the cigar had built to medium bodied. Cinnamon had joined the milk coffee and raisins. Such a relaxing cigar...no edges...a cigar that just puts you in a trance like state. Perfect manners, perfect deportment. A touch of citrus peel in the last third but no real changes. Just an excellent cigar which really surprised me. I like to be surprised from time to time 90/100 5/6 smokerings
