El Presidente Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 These were the only choices I had to comment on. I have meetings with PCCHK Tuesday/Wednesday so I will raise the issue re thinner guage release.
Tom Bolivar Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 BOLIVAR - PETIT ROBUSTO And please bring them in Cabs of 50! Please! If so, I'll have two please! Regards, Tom PS: I've chosen the Petit Robusto even if there will not much cigar be left to look at under the two rings. ;-)
Wiley Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 » These were the only choices I had to comment on. I have meetings with PCCHK » Tuesday/Wednesday so I will raise the issue re thinner guage release. That would be awesome. The fat, fat, and magnum cigar sizes are depressing.
Colt45 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 » Hypothetically ;-) List in order which one these cigars you would like to » see released in 2008 as a Regional Release. » Possible interest in: POR LARRAÑAGA CAMPANAS 52 140 BELICOSOS EXTRA SLB 25's As an aside, I know people like SLBs for aging, but I'd almost prefer SBNs for their lower profile - easier storage, at least for me.
Ginseng Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Here you go, POR LARRAÑAGA MAGNUMS SLB 25's - for historical interest POR LARRAÑAGA CAMPANAS SLB 25's - nice size of stick and box BOLIVAR PETIT ROBUSTO SLB 25's - sigh, another film canister size POR LARRAÑAGA CAMPANAS SLB 50's - I don't usually buy cigars of this size in 50-cab Wilkey

I have meetings with PCCHK » Tuesday/Wednesday so I will raise the issue re thinner guage release. I think the repeated message that Thin gauge cigars are in demand will only make it clearer to the higher ups that these are still in fashion among habanophiles. Also, I am interested in what became of the poll Re: PL Serie de Con. No. 3? I'm stocking up my war chest for action

My list of personal choice would be: 1. POR LARRAÑAGA CAMPANAS 52 140 BELICOSOS EXTRA SLB 25's 2. POR LARRAÑAGA MAGNUMS 50 172 MAGNUMS SLB 25's 3. BOLIVAR PETIT ROBUSTO 50 102 SHORT ROYAL CORONAS SLB 25's 4. POR LARRAÑAGA CAMPANAS 52 140 BELICOSOS EXTRA SLB 50's The Regional releases IMHO should never be released in any packaging over 25 because it limits the consumers that could possibly afford them. Not all Habanos Smokers can afford $1000 for a box of cigars when they are wanting to take care of the monthly bills.
Tom Bolivar Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 » The Regional releases IMHO should never be released in any packaging over » 25... While I think this is a good notion I found it good what was done with the RA Estupendos. They were offered in both 25 and 50 cabs. I even liked the French ones that came in 10 count boxes. I am in favour of having cigars released in 10 count boxes too, like the Monte Petit Edmundo or the RyJ Short Churchill. Come to think of it I would vote for all ERs and ELs to be released in boxes of 50, 25 and 10! :-) Regards, Tom

jqmunro Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Prez, any talks about the results of the poll you ran a few months ago... with running a special limited production of a thin gauge PL?
El Presidente Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 » Prez, any talks about the results of the poll you ran a few months ago... » with running a special limited production of a thin gauge PL? We are looking 2009/2010 at this stage. I an't locate the post in that this was discussed in detail but essentially what we have is a situation where big format cigars sell and thin format cigars don't. While I can and am prepared to underwrite say 20,000 cigars in a thin gauge format, As a Regional Edicion Release we need PCC to approve 60,000. The concerns are whether the other 40,000 would sit on a shelf. Also, every other retailer in this region (and around the world) wants cigars that sell off the shelf as quick as possible. Many small retailers are struggling. Tobacco retrictions and bans have hurt them big time. They care nothing for a "romantic notion" of a small gauge cigar. They care for a cigar which improves bottom line, their businesses ROI and that means one which has broad market appeal. PCCHK canvases all view points before final selection and submission to HSA for approval. I am confident we will have our place in the sun. However having spent plenty of time in the Asia Pacific divans and retail stores I understand the pressure they are under. In a suprising turnaround, the Tobacco laws and restrictions may actually help us get our proposal for a thin gauge Regional off the ground. People are looking for smaller formats to enjoy as big DC's, Churchills and Piramides simply take too long. We will fight the good fight ;-)
Tampa1257 Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Rob, As a Thin Ring gauge lover, I commend you for your efforts in providing feedback and continued support for the Thin Ring cigars which many of your clients enjoy and appreciate the Connaisseur sized Habanos. Just means we got to buy more to help improve the bottom line ROI.:-D
