Just bought the most expensive singles I've ever bought from a London tobacconist today. Probably not pricey by the standards of many but spent £46 on:

- 1 partagas pirimade LE (2000)

- 1 monte robusto LE (2000)

I really can't wait to try these. The trouble is when you only have so few, you really need to have a special occasion. Heard great things about the party pirimade.

One day when I grow up I want to be a London Tobacconist....I can only dream of those prices

You are in a pickle mate. High expectations and only one cigar of each. The only advice I can give is put them away and let the occasion find you....don't try to manufacture one. The minute you make a cigar the main event....it sets you up for a fall. However, when it accompanies a great event....different thing altogether...that is the environment when great cigars shine. :-)

Yea your UK prices are rough. But that Partagas piramide is an animal.

Couldn't agree more about UK prices, but always tempted to get a few singles here and there. When times are better I usually buy boxes from Chocolate Land or Bruce Lee Land, but not yet from Aus ;)

I usually like to try and age my own because there is nothing better than loving a cigar and knowning that there are plenty more from where they came from.

I have high hopes for my box of ENE06 PSD#4..

if i remember, that would have just about got you a box of the partagas when they were released (in havana at least). and they are sensational. for me, one of the great LE's.

The prices are down to high duties, high margins of Hunters & Frankau, and also the margins of the Davdidoff store owner. In London, everything's all so bloody expensive and we've all got to get paid !!!

Funnily enough, if I had bought a single of the new cohiba pirimade, that would have been ever more, at £28 a stick at the Davidoff store, but I did see it for the 'bargain' price of £25 at another B&M.

So by way of warped logic, if my two purchases have the benefit of additional ageing and were exceptional in the first instance, they are comparatively reaonably priced compared with the cohiba pirimade or the PSD4 Reserva (think this was about £35+).

Interestingly though, I could have spent a lot more on singles at Mr Sakhlain's shop, as the millenium jar monte robustos were £42 each. Still though I see myself going back for a rare single every now and again. They had cohiba lanceros from 94.

I have to admit I got a stick of a davidoff cuban number 1 for 39 pounds, genuine, in my humidor right now, why dont you order some sticks or sample packs from Rob ?

I think this is the best advice for smoking those cigars.

As for the price: the funny thing about value is whether or not it was worth it to you. It may have cost more, but if it was worth it, then it's a good deal as far as I'm concerned. If it weren't, I'm assuming you probably wouldn't have bought them.

Looking forward to a review on them.

I'm going to try and take on board El Pres's advice and try to forget about them.

As for the price, I agree with you that I wouldn't have bought them unless it was a favourable transaction for me. I will look forward to posting a review, although this may be pending for some time.

It may be that a certain moment finds me reaching for them on my wedding day or honeymoon next year :)
