Great review, great cigar. Something I really like about Cohiba in general, and the

Siglo IV specifically, is how straight they burn, as shown in your photos.

I agree Rob...hard to beat when they are spot on.

Awesome review I've been wondering about these myself, oh I'm assuming the above statement was said tongue-in-cheek ;-) I truly have to live vicariously through your reviews.

Trust me....I worked with three women yesterday...Lisa, her sister Diana and my accountant Dina. All three get on like a house on fire.

Unfortunately I am the target for all male jokes

My box from January 06 I believe has started to develop a little more power mid way as well. I hope it continues. I've had an aged one that was a knockout come mid way with a cherry/woody flavor in the beginning. One of the best cigars I've ever smoked.

I think the 06 has the legs to develop very well. I preferred it to the 2001 I smoked a few weeks ago and I enjoyed the 2001.

There was a greater depth of flavour + mouthfeel density in the 2006 which gave it the edge. What I would hate to see is that disappear into a milder format.

Great! I get a box of '01 Siglo IV's from you last week, and this week you tell me the '06's are better!! Timing is everything, I guess!

I'm sure I'll enjoy the '01's though as I've never had any with serious age on them before.

Thanks for another great review. Reading your reviews is almost as good as smoking the cigars myself...no, I take that back. :-D I'll light up my first Siglo IV (MAR06) soon - I think they have rested nicely after their last journey - and it'll be very interesting to compare notes (as if I ever take notes...)

I'm a little late to reading most reviews these days due to work, but great review Rob.

Thanks for putting up all the great reviews. I have two more freinds down becoming members. We love the site, information, and great reviews.

I recently reviewed an 01 Cohiba Siglo IV and wanted to see how a recent 06 stacked up. After a tough day at the office I had a chance for a late afternoon cigar on the deck.....another beautiful Brisbane town afternoon :-)

Classic Cohiba light tan wrapper. Smell at cold was dry grass and quality toasted tobacco. Construction was excellent with no complaints. Foot nice an open.

Cerrated the cap to find another perfect draw. I am on a roll currently with draws as I think this is the 7th perfect draw in a row. Cool clean tobacco flavour on the palate.

Torched the foot, sat back and watched the late afternoon Wet crowd park their cars down the street before walking up to the bathhouse....look around...and scurry in

No harshness to this cigar. Rich..dense but so so cool on the burn and clean on the palate. Dry grass stalks, cream, milk coffee, sweet molasses note. Fine white pepper though the nose. This is an excellent cigar and testament to the aged tobacco currently being used. The balance is perfect. The flavours are crystal clear...defined and simple. There is no confusion, this is Cohiba at its best.

By the halfway mark this cigar maintained its perfect balance and poise. The core flavours of dry grass stalks, cream, coffee, sweet notes of varying hues and white pepper spice through the nose remain. I know there are no changes to come in theis cigar but I am left to wonder as to its evolution over the coming years. The cigar is already a 90/100....where does it go from here? Will the use of aged tobacco's render its likely improvement by only 5%? To be honest I don't care. They are great now and as long as they do not go backwards I will be a happy camper.

The cigar finished as it started....perfect. In the last inch the strength built slightly but hardly noticeable. Maybe a little moccha to the end and less grassiness but hardly distinguishable.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there are some who believe that Cohiba are overrated and not worth the money. I have had plenty of disappointing Cohiba in my time but when they are blended and constructed properly, there is no cleaner tasting, smooth, complex and distinctive cigar.

Kudos to Habanos s.a and the factory manager in charge of this batch. Proof positive you are heading in the right direction.

90/100 5/6 smokerings
