Nice review Rob. This vitola has been on my "got to try" list for some time now. Your review might have pushed me over the edge. Thanks for the pics.

Yet another great pictorial review! I still haven't gotten around to a camera yet so I'm holding off on putting my newb02 in so far.

Also, this flu has killed my sense of smell completely turning me into a non-smoker! I lit a dog rocket last night and I'm starting to get something - I think.

Keep the reviews coming so I can smoke vicariously! ;-)

Nice review Rob. One of my favorite smokes.

I'm LOL at the donut dunked in coffee, but it is right on.

Thanks.

Nice review there, Rob.

I have a box of 03s I bought a few years ago, that I barely liked enough to smoke when I didn't want to waste something good. Now they've become pretty great, really full bodied yet very smooth. I always taste some candied ginger in mine. They jet fuel a Sunday morning.

It has become one of lifes great pleasures to select a cigar to enjoy with my Merlo coffee in the morning as I answer my e-mails, see what is occuring on the forum and plan my day and remainder of the week.

This morning I selected (Rob...walk past the Partagas Connoisseur No 3.....keep going.....) a cigar I do not select all that often in a St Luis Rey Regio from Jun 05.

Gorgeous looking cigar. Silky, oily wrapper....almost wet to the touch but I knew it was not the case...just a testament to the amount of oil. Perfectly filled, no hard or soft spots and an aroma at cold of damp earth and a cappucino chocolate sprinkle.

Cuban clipped the end to find my preferred draw where a slight pull required. Breezy on the deck this morning, cool south easterlies off the Pacific but combined with the warm morning sun....very pleasant.

Lit the foot and the cigar came to life immediately....medium body, lashings of flavours...earth, slightly sweet milk coffee, light coating of viscous oil on the tongue. Through the nose, minimal white pepper spice. This is a Mid body cigar of complexity with no rough edges. Getting into the cigar now.....beautiful....balanced, plenty of viscous blue smoke. What a joy to behold a properly blended and rolled cigar.

Into the mid point and the body has increased slightly to Medium full. No bitterness, just a profile which could only be described as dunking a doughnut into black coffee. Refreshing, each draw brings a consistent delivery of flavour.

I have reached that point in a very good cigar where you realise it is going to end soon....I hate that realisation  Removed the band and just enjoyed the last throes of an immensely satisfying Regio.

I got no work done.

89/100 4/6 smokerings. :ok:
