Ken Gargett
thought it about time to try one of these again as it had been quite a while. previous notes suggested lock 'em away for years but i only have so much willpower. most are in deep storage but there were a couple of single sticks that i got from rob in the humidor at home. fabulous looking smoke, very dark and oily wrapper. smelt cold, a mix of old leather, old socks (in the nicest way), earth and hints of campfire and old kerosine lamp. opened with wonderful rich flavours, chocolate, lots of expresso and well done roast meats. rich and powerful throughout. the flavours persisted, especially the expresso. not completely convinced it is a typical cohiba-like smoke, certainly not as subtle as some, but it really is a terrific cigar. what is interesting is that my earlier notes do suggest a stronger correlation to the usual cohiba flavours. very slow and mostly even burn (any deviation from that is no doubt more my fault than the roller's). excellent construction and a seriously good smoke. 95. i have one more loose stick to try at sometime over the next year or two and the rest are off for the long haul. one of, if not the, very best of the LE's. Not the usual at all IMHO. Probably my favorite cohiba. Surpassing the Sublime for me.
