rjfunk Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I found this on a non-Habanos website. Does this apply to Habanos? Aging cigars should be kept at 70%-79% humidity depending on the thickness of the wrapper. Thicker wrapper require higher levels of humidity. Once desired age is achieved a cigar should be brought to 70% before smoking.
56Tweed Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Most people agree that Habanos should be stored a little lower but its all a matter of taste and comfort. I wouldn't be comfortable with mine above 70%. My target for storage is about 63% and about 65% for smoking. What I really think is funny about that quote though is that it mentions thicker wrappers needing higher humidity. IMO they have a hard enough time burning when young they certainly don't need that extra humidity. Mike

I have a section on my website on Temperature & Humidity. [link]http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/3a_packaging.htm#Temp_&_Humidity[/link] Trevor.

At RH levels that high, you are bound to get split wrappers. 65-70% for non-cubans 62-65% for cubans I prefer around 64% for storage Hope this helps ~Mark
wp2 Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'll agree with the other posters here. 63-65% for me.

I love 63% myself RH has little to do with beetle outbreaks, more so temperature. Tweed, a little anal with those percentages :-P
Fatshotbud Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Aging?? Does that start from order date?
Cam Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 lol maybe just maybe, really though any running costs i'll be glad to help out
Cam Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 » 66 works for me. :-) 69 works for me ;-) oops cigars... i meant 66 as-well
Cam Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 seriously though, 66-67 percent is ideal for my cigars, i keep the temperature constant (somehow) at 66-67F also, my cigars are perfect condition, try 66-67 it seems to be a popular range but anything above 61 and below 75 is generally accepted as a good operating range
