CIGARHead Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 ...a new cigar - ie - RyJ Short Churchill makes it to market. I was just wondering how does Habanos SA come up with a blend, approve it and then decide if it is the right amount of concistancy within that brand, but different enough to stand out on its own. Do they make the cigar, smoke it. Then age for a year and smoke it. Then decide if its right? Sorry. A rare deep question from me;-)
First Lady Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I have just received word that the R & J Chirchill will be arriving around the mid of October.......Finally. We will post when they are in stock TFL

Habanos s.a. marketing will toss around ideas for new releases. As a rule, the blends are not that challenging. The R&J Short Churchill is a classic Romeo y Julieta Blend, the Montecristo Edmundo a classic Montecristo Blend, Cohiba Siglo VI same...etc etc. At the end of the day it is Ligero/Seco/Volado. From conception to market release is 18 months to two years. The packaging is perhaps the toughest part of the equation particularly when Tubes are involved. They make the cigar very early on in the process. Cubatobacco has an important part to play in working up the blend as this part of the process is not Habanos s.a. territory. Habanos s.a will comment on the blend and the prototype product before signing off on the blend. Cubatobacco records all blends. Habanos s.a will provide direction in formulating the blend. They will state the flavour profile they are seeking keeping in mind the market positioning for the cigar.

I should have my new Avallo DDD Chilled humidor paid off by then. It has been a long few months of budgetary restriction! :-(
