Partagas D1?

Recommended Posts

I smoked one out of my DEC04 box about six months ago and was very favorably impressed. It was still young, but showed some of the greatest complexity I have ever experienced in a cigar. There was the classic Partagas profile, opening with pepper and spice, followed by a leathery, woody core around which was wrapped rich cinnamon and other spices. It continued through a remarkable evolution of flavors, and ended tasting remarkably like a Cohiba. All in all, a fascinating, captivating smoke, with enormous aging potential. Top marks.

That bodes well for the two boxes I have resting for the last 2 tears. I have only tried one and it was one year ago. It was harsh and extremely peppery and frankly it tasted like **** back then. I mean, not like actual dog pooh or anything but compared to my PSD3's it was way off. I vowed not to try another for another year. Might be time to bust one out for another go. I'd be interested to hear people's opinions on their progress lately.

I will say that they are beutifully rolled. Oily like Prince Williams Sound. Long like the Dalai Lama's drive into a 10,00 foot crevice at the base of a glacier. And darker than my sense of humor.

That was my experience from them as well. But I was drunk at the time and decided that the jury was out until I tried one again. Might be tme to fire one up although I reckon they need 5 years on them.

I picked up some of these for a cigar club meeting here earlier this year and smoked a few of them as they were singles.

I thought they were very good now. However you can easily see where they will become animals with time. :-D

I had one from my box if Vegas a year and a half ago. I liked it very much. Very rich, strong, but not the most complex. I thought they will be great but really needed some more age. I am probly going to wait a couple more years.
